When I was a kid, I imagined forming my superhero team where every member was based around video game characters. There were both a Golem and a Rhydon mech on the team. I was the Golem one.

Raising a Geodude you catch in Mt Moon is useful ingame. Can't get a Rhydon til after Safari Zone, when your team is already pretty strong. Love Rhydon, but Golem is a real pal.

I've totally turned into a genwunner. I love playing R/B so much more than anything else. Definitely nostalgia, but I think it's well earned. I've paid my dues.

As a kid I owuld use Rhydon pretty much every playthrough, but now I usually use Golem.

For gen1 comp, Golem. I usually run it with Exeggutor for double Explosion to bust down walls.

Objectively Rhydon, in both battle and design. But I'm attached to Golem because you can scoop up a Geodude early-game and I just love that guy.

I'm the same way with Charizard and Blastoise. Had Blue Version as a kid, loved turtles, favorite color was blue. But objectively Charizard is just cooler and there are better water types than Blastoise for battling in Gen 1.

I'm not a genwunner by any stretch but I agree completely. The only games where Rhyhorn is available before Geodude are X and Y and they're also the only ones where you can catch it early enough to even get attached.

Catch Geodude early on, pick up a Rhydon in Cerulean Cave in the postgame. Raising a Rhyhorn is tedious.

I prefer to ignore Rhyperior entirely. Frankly, on tge whole I'd rather drop all of those gen4 cross-gen evolutions. You lose some cool ones, like Gliscor or Yanmega, but most are garbage.

Golem because I actually had a friend to trade with. Of course I ended up using all 4 trade evo mons in my team - thankfully there were no overlapping types between them.

Graveler's design has changed several times over the years, but keeping both pairs of arms and its pair of legs shot any sense of progression for the line. Graveler should have either
A. only one pair of arms and no legs like in Special and Neo Relevation, essentially a buffer Geodude
B. two pairs of arms but no legs like in its RG/RB artwork, so that number of limbs doesn't drop from 6 to 4 when it evolves into Golem
