Their handling of global missions has been as bad as their handling of online infrastructure for S/M.

If they had the same concept running with PSS like X/Y or OR/AS, the first global machine may've easily exceeded 100,000,000 captures, as it's definitely a figure that has been exceeded, just not reported.

The Island Scan thing though I can see that failing because it's an under-appreciated or not fully understood feature.

It's like how GF are promoting bottle caps heavily, giving it away with Magearna, having download codes available from GAME for three weeks starting tomorrow, etc. They're doing it to introduce the mechanic more than anything.

The first was capture one hundred million Pokemon, which was probably reached but since nobody knew about global missions nobody reported their captures. One was use Island Scan to find Pokemon 1 million times. Of course nobody knew what the fuck island scan was so we didn't even come close.

Don't forget to stand inside the Festival Plaza castle, you can talk to the person you traded with each time for free FC per wondertrade.
Even more if you get a fortune told that "you may have good luck in a wonder trade". It's just a multiplier for FC earned by certain activities.
