It means you can tell the IVs, gender or HA. Also faster.

E.g.
Say i want shiny Salazzle.
If i use the normal method, i have a chance of hatching useless shiny male salandit.
If i Karp, if a egg comes out shiny and male, i can turn it into a different mon that would be good as male shiny(e.g. Volcarona) and keeo hunting.

Same principle applies for HA

What about for pokemon with different gender ratios? The guide mentioned that genderless and single-gender pokemon can mess it up, but magikarp is 50-50. What if you use an 8:1 species? What if it's vice versa?

Okay so how you think about it
Imagine it rolls a number between 1 and 8 for gender.
On a Karp (50/50) 1-4 is male, 5-8 is female.
On a Salandit, 1-7 is male, 8 is female.

So if a Karp comes out male and shiny, Salandit is definitely male.
If a Karp is shiny female, about 1/4 odds Salandit is also.

With Genderless mons, alternate rejecting and collecting eggs- it skips the gender roll and keeps it right.

(However, I prefer to collect however many Karp eggs im supposed to, then replace w/ genderless mon, reject egg, pick up shiny)
