Well, larger sprites would eat up all the resources. Triples already makes the system lag a bit.

Honestly this is what I like about gen 5. GF didn't go beyond the system's limits. My eyes bleed every time I do a multi battle on SM.

It baffles me that there are people who didn't like this, it forced you to get out of your 'muh pokebros' comfort zone and try some new mons. Plus we got a full 150 new Pokemon out of it.

For having more new Pokémon than any generation ever, it did a real bad way of exposing them to you.
Then again, Gen 7 did just the fucking same with its new Pokémon distribution, so at least we know GF didn't learn its lesson

Most of these only apply for the first two gyms other than the lategame stuff.

Pinwheel Forest and the desert areas open a lot of potential possibilities for bros. I feel like BW1 did a good job of introducing new Pokemon throughout the game, unlike Kanto where it's literally the same thing every other route, with a lot of unique stuff shoved into the Safari Zone or just as gifts only.

Only thing useful out of pinwheel was Lilligant.
Everything else was shit.
Plus you're forced to go like 6-7 games with unevolved mons cuz of BW's shitty evolution levels. Did anyone get to enjoy the real cool mons from BW in the campaign? I was eager to use shit like Bisharp, Braviary, Volcarona and Chandelure ingame, but they were pretty mcuh non-options since they're all gotten pretty much at E4's door and even by E4 levels, they still wouldn't evolve.

I played BW after GTS was discontinued and it drained me. Only like 10 Pokémon useful for the campaign and a tutorial every town informing me of features I couldn't enjoy any more. I got access to Transporter and haven't picked it up since except for transferring gen 3+4 mons over.

It kinda sucks that because of the huge amount of negative feedback they got regarding this, they'll probably never do it again. I didn't appreciate it the first time I played through BW but god, it's better than playing through what's ultimately Kanto with a different layout.

I don't know how to feel. On one hand the main reason I don't really dislike BW was actually the idea of using all sorts of mons that don't get much time in the limelight that are legitimately good bros, but on the other hand the cold reality is that it will really piss off people who don't like the majority of the designs which is honestly fair.

For ingame use? Yeah they are. Scolipede doesn't get anything strong till either move relearner or level 50, plus poison and bug gets like hardwalled by half the Pokémon you encounter along the way.
Leavanny suffers from mostly the same fate, and its two 4x weaknesses to relatively common types doesn't help (plus being weak to like half of all types).

Mons are pretty evenly distributed. Only off spot is just after Gym 4 all the way up to Celestial Tower, plus Dragonspiral and Victory Road - They for some reason concentrated mons a bit more heavily. If Deerling was back over in Pinwheel, Joltik maybe a rare Pokemon near Nimbasa, Golett as a rare encounter in the ruins, and Rufflet/Vullaby *literally anywhere else pre Victory Road why the fuck are those two THAT late game?*, then it would have been great. As it is, the balance still isn't all that horrible

Oh yeah, he's one the coolest things from BW and I love big bug types. But for ingame it's horseshit.
Gen 6 redeemed it by making it a force virtually equal to the other big bugs (Heracross, Scizor) along with Pinsir
Gen 7 also made me appreciate Leavanny a lot. Great for capturing and probably the best user of the newly buffed Fell Stinger.

But good competitive != Good postgame != Good in the campaign

I do wish they would make the pseudo more available early or halfway through the campaign. I wanted to run Kommo-o in my Sun nuzlocke, but by Poni Island, my team was already full and type balanced.

Indeed, I mean in Pt, literally just after finishing the second gym:

I had my full team by gym 3. It does require trade evos but getting those strong Pokémon this early was a delight.
Granted, Gible didn't become a Garchomp until I was literally on Victory Road it kinda had to be carried when the rest of my squad overpowered it, but I forgive him since vs the E4 he was the only one standing in like 3/5 fights as I couldn't be bothered grinding my team.
