I'm still mulling over wether I even want to do the transfer because Sun and Moon have disappointed me a lot. I'll have to do it eventually because Mewtwo needs Hyper Training, but bottle cap farming is absurdly annoying, so I'll use my time to think about it while trying to collect them.

I'm also kind of frightened because I heard the hack detection in SM is faulty and considers some legitimate transferred Pokémon to be illegal.

How does one go about making a trophy mon?

Find a monster you like in RSE and do everything you can with it in RSE. Beat the Champion with it, win every Master Rank contest with it, beat the Battle Tower challenge with it, max out its EVs, complete Orre's Mt. Battle with it, everything. Use Bulbapedia or Serebii to make sure you have every possible ribbon attached. Empty your balls into it then send it to DPPT and continue. Repeat until you have every possible ribbon (the Wifi ribbons are no longer obtainable, thanks Nintendo).

I have a special connection with this Lilligant. It's not great competitively, but it was amazing going through White with. I can still remember shredding through Team Plasma in Dragonspiral Tower with it... So I kept it and made it my Ribbon Trophy in XY/ORAS. I also use it competitively regardless just because I love it so much. Lilligant's not even my favorite Pokemon, but this is by far my most valuable Pokemon. If only she had better coverage and a Mega... Such a shame.

A)More ribbons = more impressive looking mon.
B)Getting lesser versions such as the regular matches in the tree or the maison alongside the super version paints of better image of a journey to show how strong they are.

I have an Adamant Hitmontop waiting in Colosseom by comparison, I can't make it viable since Careful is what's recommended but I should be able to turn it into a nice for fun build. Just got the first of the two Tower Ribbons in RSE.
Took quite the effort, but I managed to get it eventually. Now, gotta level him up for the other mode.

Pikachu, Starmie and Metagross.
Starmie was the first one I selected to help carry Pikachu. Its movepool gives it a lot of versatility and coverage.
Metagross was picked since I needed a physical attacker.

One trick I figured early on, since Pikachu's movepool is limited in Gen 3, I gave him toxic. Really helps with the bulky stuff that also walled my team.

I've been loading up all my in-game team mons with as many ribbons as I can. With S/M I now have 7 teams.

It's gonna suck getting the Battle Tree Ribbon for them all. Even if I bottlecap them up it's going to be a real pain because you can't just cheese Triple Battles like you could in XYORAS.

So...how many ribbons could the potential DP remakes add? I want my shiny dog to have more ribbons damn it!

Yes. Play in Dolphin > Export save > Dump to PkHex yadda yadda. If you really don't want to do that, you can set up a emulator transfer with vbam with some difficulty.

I think they do change if you fail to get it on the first go since they can become shiny in separate encounters; there's a YT channel that had a guy shiny hunting all the shadow mons and he got the dogs shiny in the Deep Colosseum after knocking them out in the first encounter.

These are really nice. I have a shiny Goodra I MM'd for in Y that has every ribbon it can at the moment (except the 50 wins in the Maison, just couldn't do it) but I completely forgot about this guy. It's the FAL2010 Mew that was released for HGSS and I love the little guy. I just got Bank last night, so now I have to work on the gen 7 ribbons.

last I checked, gen VII was the first time distributed pokemon were able to be nicknamed.

if it's an in-game event (which I don't think it is) then it's not able to legitimately be caught in a cherish ball.

if it's the FAL2010 mew I think it is, then it shouldn't be nicknamable unless:

A) your trainer name is FAL2010
B) your secret ID hit the jackpot and matched that of the event pokemon.

Damn, I was all excited when I found it resting on my old cart. I did definitely receive it through the event though, even have the wonder card still. I wasn't the only one who played on this cart, so in all honestly, who knows. It went through Bank and I can play my friends with it, so I don't mind. Most people guessed that they didn't wanted ribbon collecting to be a thing anymore in Gen V, which is why the only ribbons you get are event distributed mons. Who knows why they reverted the decision in Gen VI. Maybe the nips are huge ribbon collectors.

I've decided to whore out a Shadow Mawile with Ribbons in preparation of the Mega Stone distribution. I'll go for the SubPunch set with an Adamant Nature since it sound like fun.

However, I ran into a problem. I planned on using the nickname "Kuchi Kuchi", but that won't work in Gen III. Should I go for the CamelCase "KuchiKuchi" or drop the second capital letter for "Kuchikuchi"? I feel like the latter looks better grammatically, but the pun I'm going for kind of loses its "oomph" when it's displayed as a single word. Thoughts?

I hope I got Salamence move set right I've honestly never needed to use him in Maison/tree. I used speed boosting natures for charizard and greninja, adamant for dragonite.

the guy who made the ribbon collecting guide didn't get the wi fi world ability ribbon and his battle memory ribbon was blue in ORAS

his contest memory turned blue but the battle one turned golden for soe reason even when he doesnt have all the battle ribbons

There's a thread about it on GFAQs that explains it, but if you have a complete Contest ribbon selection of 40, it comes up as blue (incomplete). The opposite is true for battle ribbons (so everyone should now have a gold battle ribbon in SM, unless they got the wifi one).

GF are complete and utter hacks.

Fuck GF for changing how ribbons are obtained it used to be the max friendship ribbon, my level 75 and up pokemon are screwed from getting it, because I didn't get it during gen 6.

Big thank you, anon. I just beat her - thank you so much. Greninja was enough to kill her stupid genies. I literally did it first time - a few close calls (fucking Quick Claw Glaceon killed my Dragonite TWICE with Blizzards, holy shit, the rage) but did it in the end.

First battle was against HER with THAT Walrein. Thank fuck for Grass Knot.

Same here anon, I'm locked out of that ribbon due to the whole "gain 30 levels" requirement. DPPt's requirement for that ribbon made more sense. I'm hoping they change that in the next generation, if ever.

Yeah, I kinda wish I knew about that when I was younger. Younger me was too excited to transfer everything right away back in the day (or remember the ribbons), so that's why I'm missing a lot (could've sworn I had the Legend Ribbon, but I guess Delcatty had to actually fight in order to get it).

But the game is throwing fucking grass type walls at me very early. I'm terrible at competitive already, so I'm slowly loosing hope.

I just used a rain team to beat Maison. Politoed/Ludicolo/Kingdra/Bisharp/Gastrodon/Ribbonmon. There were some close calls but it was mostly pressing surf to win.

And now, after quite the ordeal, my Pikachu has its second Tower Ribbon.
Transferred it to Emerald from Ruby to get the Ribbon there since I didn't want to level the stuff I was using to 100.

Next up, Contests. Thankfully I have all the berries ready to go, and I'll get to blending tomorrow with my friends.

Plan out move sets before entering, and make sure you get the Artist ribbon too

This may seem pretty obvious, but get all of one stats' ribbons first. Some people might try all the regular rank, then the super, hyper, master but you'll need to change your move set constantly that way.
