I freaking love the idea of harmless little Magikarp flipping the fuck out and becoming a badass sea serpent. I kinda wish Gyarados' lore included trying to protect the defenseless Magikarp or taking vengeance on the things that terrorized and hunted it when it was younger.

God I remeber I always bought the level 5 Magikarp in mount moon. Usually screwed me over swap training it.

I would evolve it around Rock Tunnel and teach it Misty's Bubble beam in Red and Yellow a lot

I always used very similar teams now that I think about it
