If you had been here a year ago a group of anons were watching the anime from start to finish. We're almost done now though.

I've watched most of the anime so I can give you what I think.

Kanto is really enjoyable. It's the classic we all got into.

Johto is nice and comfy apart from the FILLER HELL that it is. Definitely downhill.

Hoenn was not enjoyable most of the time.

Sinnoh is definitely more enjoyable then Johto and Hoenn. My personal favourite series tied with XY.

Unova is the absolute worst thing to come out of the anime, even worse than the episode that gave everyone seizures.

XY is very enjoyable but the last arc, XYZ, is downhill. Bad ending.

Add 20% enjoyment to each region if you're not a completionist and willing to skip filler

Kalos wasn't wrapped up fine.

Watched through SM out of boredom. I really liked it, comfy SOL while none of the episodes were complete filler. Fights were lacking in number and quality though.

Good point, SM08 felt like filler too then, though at least with that episode we know it leads to something concrete down the road, so that by itself renders it non-filler, albeit a meh one in my opinion.

As for the other ones...for example, Lana's episode, there's a flashback and then...meh. The flashback is really the only part of the episode that was of significance, and it was showing events that didn't even happen in the episode itself. That flashback could have really appeared in any episode. If a relatively mundane flashback is literally the only thing that rescues the episode from 100% pure filler status, you know it was a crummy episode and it might as well have been filler even if it wasn't one in name.

Basically, if we're being generous here, it's not 100% filler, but the events in the episodes certainly make them feel really filler-y.

It's nice detail for her character bio, but considering the rest of the episode was focused on watching everyone fail at fishing and Popplio blowing balloons, I don't think that the flashback was as important as one might think.

This is no more deserted than some of the threads during mid-XY once his became a general at XY26. It just feels slower because these threads had so many posts during late XY and XY&Z. The threads will pick up pace as the series develops further. It's understandable that they would be slow at the start of a new series, because it takes time for us to get subplots, characters and such off to a start.

We may never return to the days of XY&Z and late XY, but these threads are by no means dead.

All that and more was on top of the episode discussion which up until that point had generally all been important episodes. 9 or so of the first 13 episode had us all excited and hyped for the future.

With Sun and Moon it's hard to really speculate on everything because we still don't know how they're going to handle the rest of the trials and on top of that the real main protagonist of the SM games was Lillie. Anime Lillie is already vastly different then her with the inclusion of Vulpix, her fear of touching Pokemon, and lack of Nebby even though she has memory loss.

It's hard to tell what direction the series is taking in comparison it was easy for XY because it followed the formula we've always known.

SM has so far been more episodic then anything were used to for Pokemon. There is no rush for Ash to head to Trials because there is no final tournament that urges him to finish it in a set time unlike other regions where he has to obtain all the badges before he can enter the League which will start without him if he doesn't get them all in time.

If you are admiting the first XY's threads weren't generals then why are you comparing them? By your logic, these threads shouldn't exist because SM is fucking slow now and the discussion is garbage.
