Seems to me that of all things that haven't gone wrong, it would seem exceptionally wrong for your Popplio to be male in any way unless it were to be just a attempt you'd eventually trash anyway on your path for a female one

Agreed, even more with its final form. I may not be terribly fond of the entire line (I'm actually pretty darn apathetic towards it), but that doesn't mean I don't find it underrated even if it's not exactly what people wanted (I'm honestly not entirely sure who's even on the lead or last place, every poll comes from various source). It may have been popular back then (Litten in particular), but ever since Incineroar was introduced, it feels like not that many people like bringing him up to mention any more, whether they were let down or something like that. I won't deny Popplio had its share of unpopularity though, but honestly, all of that was before Primarina was even revealed.

Well yes. Decidueye and Primarina, and their other forms, had strange popularity paths but they eventually intersected and they're fairly equal now, with Prims edging out the owl in some larger polls. But I was honestly rather surprised with how far Incineroar's line fell, as compared to it occupying the place Prims is in now. It's an odd cycle though, I expect a slight increase in Incineroar fans after this.

Frankly I can't hate the idea of Tiger Zangief.

Someone posted the translation a while ago. If i remember correctly, the shiny Popplios are asking why the normal one is different, and that one gets a confused look on her face. I like Primarina and Brionne plenty, but I wasn't instantly drawn right to the designs like I was with Popplio when the starters were first announced.
It just stood out to me so strongly and I still consider it my favourite S/M pokemon in terms of design.
I knew I was getting Popplio since day one, and I was absolutely happy with how he turned out as the evolutions were revealed.
I got lucky this gen.

I actually put both on pretty equal terms. It's the little hints in the designs that gives this off.

>Brionne is always cheerful, but only shows its true emotions to its trainer = Always puts a facade toward others, but that might not mean it's doing a bad thing, it can do this while cheering others, it just means it's not exactly portraying its "true" emotions and always puts on a smile regardless
>The entire line puts its nose up high when making the bubbles = proud of themselves, might be a bit stuck up
>Primarina = Arguably a more gentler mon for those it cares, but might also act cold towards others that dare defy it, proud of its power, proud of what it did in order to accomplish what it is now, nurturing, might be deadly and dare I say, high-maintenance if you really want it to be at its best, even if it might mean humiliate yourself a bit for this, but that doesn't mean it won't make up for it

I can do this with Rowlet too

I'd do Litten, but that'd be too much to write about. Basically, "reserved fella that becomes enthusiastic, maybe a little too much and does shit its own way, even if people are against it, does the opposite of what people would normally expect". You might have that one friend you could consider reserved and quiet, but did something out of this world, you might call him a Incineroar.
