Is this the best early route pokemon ever?

Design-wise? Yeah, it's a cool mon, i can see why people like it. I like Staraptor and Toucannon more, but Salandit/Salazzle are some of my favorites.
Competitive-wise? It's not that viable at all now with Bank, and there are things like Diggersby too.

I would not consider it early route, since Salandit shows up halfway through the game.

It's pretty good Pokémon though.

>encounter what's probably its evolution in the totem battle
>proceed to train cute salamander for the next few trials
>look up when it evolves, it's already level 37 surely it can't be much longer
>commit sudoku

I don't know OP, you tell me. It feels to me like it's just there to cuck people who don't look up evolution methods online, same like Grubbin and Crabrawler.
