Golurk is a golem based on wild Machamp and Machops ancient people saw, which is why Golett has the same pose as Machop

Does anyone else feel like this and Claydol have swapped typings? Claydol is spooky and floats while Golurk has more sci-fi elements with the mech stuff which fits Psychic better. Both claymons are my favorite Ground-types, though, along with Gliscor.

It's one of the best designs of the series 2bh, not just gen V.

It's such a solid design. I can't imagine anyone hating it other than it being a part of the genV boogie man.

That was never the design's intention. Its based on a wise Japanese space deity whereas Golurk is just a possessed golem. They're typings make perfect sense.

No, the dex says it's animated by a mysterious energy. Note how it doesn't have a gender unlike Aegislash which is a possessed sword.

It probably was Ground/Psychic but later changed like Frillish and Stunfisk for the sake of new type combos.

Golurk is partially based on the adventure/horror trope of a seemingly normal statue suddenly becoming animated behind the character(s) while they explore a haunted building or ancient ruins, hence the Ghost typing and its English name.

Plus Golett's Pokedex entry says the internal energy is burning, so I imagine it being similar to Chandelure and A-Marowak's ghostly flames.

Memes aside, it is certainly one of the more inspired Pokémon in terms of design.

Needs a better ability and a better Ghost STAB, though the latter applies to Ghost in general, really.

I feel like one of the major appeals to Golurk is how it's one of the few ghost types that isn't a complete and utter dick. It also looks like a gentle giant (even if it's most likely not), so that really adds to the whole not being a cunty ghost
