XY animation may not have been amazing, but it was easily the best in any Pokemon series yet, and now the animation in SM has been really inconsistent, with some shots being fluid and others being a trainwreck.

Except we're not talking about individual frames, we're talking about watching it in real-time where you can't notice individual frames.

I mean, this scene right here... Even if we grant that they were going for some sort of "cat-vision" type of perspective, the fact that the ground magically slides underneath Alola Persian's body each time it takes a step is inexcusably lazy.

The animation in Homos on Ice overall isn't great, as you often can't really notice the difference between a lutz, a Salchow, an axel, etc., but it also isn't a total trainwreck.

Can't speak to DBS because I don't watch it.

But it doesn't. In the first scene where we are looking at Persian, we see there are 3 levels of ground, one in front of the camera with Ash, one with Pikachu and Litten, and then Persian walking. When we switch to behind Persian, there are only two seen, which implies the third one cannot be seen because.... it's walking on it and relatively stationary.

Some other scenes in SM, meanwhile, have been animated pretty nicely, though I don't have any standout examples in .webm format at the moment. The footage where the camera sweeps around Ash as he activates his Z-Ring feels pretty smooth and has a high frame rate, though I suspect it will be recycled quite a bit as stock footage.

I think I see what you're talking about now. Even then, it still looks really wonky, as if Alola Persian is kind of just floating there. I don't think it works at all. I wonder if there was any way for them to make the missing level visible, that way we can see it step and not be under the illusion that it might be "hovering."

Episode 14 I think is going to be really telling of what the future holds not only for Lillie but the rest of the series as well since we should be getting a new upcoming episodes preview around that time.

XY had a fantastic series opener of 10 or so episodes and slowed noticeably until the 2nd Gym Battle. I'm fully expecting SM to be similar, build, introduce, and develop the cast for the first 26 or so episode then blast full speed ahead similar to XY. XY became incredible after the 2nd Gym Battle and continued to get better from that point on until the very end.

I'm hoping SM follows it quite closely, although more evenly paced then XY.

Right now, with Lusamine and Gladions foreshadowed appearance and Lillie's amnesic fear of Pokemon there is a lot there that needs to be explained and we've basically been told through her episode at the mansion that Lillie has gone through some shit, Gladions with Skull, Lusamine is working at Aether, and some shit happened that made her lose her memory.

Her episode at the mansion although showing us little, gave us a pretty good look at where her story is probably going to go. She has a lot of baggage and is the cash cow of SM. They wouldn't dare waste her with the amount of popularity she has.

That one episode developed her more then any of the other characters in the show so far.
