I never liked Rotom before, but Pokedex Rotom is the cutest.

My biggest regret about no National Dex update is that we'll never get to read Rotomdex's appraisal of its own species, and its five other separate entries for the alternate forms.

Assuming Rotomdex ever comes back. But knowing Gamefreak, it's not gonna happen. Here's what I think will go down:

>casual players STILL manage to get lost and complain about the game being too hard/unclear
>it's because they never bother to look at the bottom screen and read Rotom's textboxes (which didn't pause gameplay at all and were great for players who didn't need the extra help)
>in the next games, Gamefreak gives us a Fi-tier companion that constantly stops us in our tracks with unskippable tutorial/hint text

As a character, yes. I enjoyed his "help" banter throughout the story. Worst he did was be intrusive on the first island, but so is everyone else.

As a feature he was pretty worthless, I was hoping pre-release that the way finder system would mean they'd make a more open world, but instead I got the most linear and roaded off region yet which is a wonder after the maps of Unova and Kalos were literally designed like single subway lines. They should've had more options on the touch screen too, like swap the map for PSS and DexNav, but for PSS I get the feeling the reason they restricted everything to Festival Plaza to begin with was they ran into some problem with allowing online communications outside of that specifically tailored environment, related to the game requiring the "full" O3DS processing power and RAM like Smash 4 does.

No substantial touch screen features was my biggest problem, too. After you beat the main story, there's no point for it anymore, and Rotom spouts the same 7 or 8 canned phrases about being bored or wanting to investigate the Ultra Beasts (even if you've already done that). I really wish they at least gave you a way to view your party on the bottom screen so that you don't need to load the Pokemon menu every time. Even something like the 5th Poketch app would have been enough.
