Golurk is my favourite mon, I have to agree on the BST thing, especially when it's attack is over 1/4 of that total.

Also, it gets Iron Fist Shadow Punch if you REALLY want Ghost STAB, but even then it's only 72 BP before STAB, whereas you could use something like Ice Punch or Drain Punch over it for, almost as strong, physical coverage options.

Golurk could stand to have +20 to its defenses; it's a lot more frail than it looks.

Its attack is fine if you're using Iron Fist(as you should anyway. His only good move with No Guard is dynamic punch and Machamp does that better).

Honestly I would not mind if the next gen was a massive balance patch. Reexamine the base stats and movepools of all Pokemon. Change abilities, etc.

Mostly intended as a "buff what's in need of it" but there are some conventions that started in early gens and never really went away that could stand to be revised (the ubiquity of certain moves like Earthquake)

The game would still be bank compatible it would just have to alter Pokemon to reflect changes.

That's why you need Smogon, to create an environment where your favorites can be used. Only a madman would use an Electrode in OU and claim he's a viable member of the team, but in a lower tier Electrode can be quite useful.
