Friendly reminder that gen 5 was the ugliest generation, that sticking with sprites for so long was a mistake, and that every single model is better than every single sprite simply because they have animations corresponding to their actual actions. Even off-model models like Nidokings at least do something other than jiggle-tween all over the place like they did in gen 5.

It should be worth noting that the 3D models were based of of Sugimori's art from RSE, FRLG, DPPt, HGSS, so on, making them more on point with the art.

I think Mienshao suffered from the shift to 3d. The model itself isn't bad, but its pose in 3d is awful compared to the 2d one. In Gen V, its pose was much more dynamic and even elegant in a way, while in 3d it just... stands there with its arms awkwardly held out in front of it. Plus, in Gen V, it turned to the side and looked out of the corner of its eye at the opponent, while in 3d it simply faces them like pretty much every other Pokemon. Really removes some of the uniqueness and personality.

The saddest thing about these 3D models is that they intentionally made them way too high res so they could use them for a couple generations. Enjoy gen 8 and 9 with the same shitty models.

Ughhhh I cringe every time someone brings this up. I can't stand the thought of having to see these same ones for the next decade. Most of the models look fine but some are just terrible. Plus, it's going to be so incredibly boring seeing the same 800 models every single game.

Regardless of how people feel about the sprites, at least we got brand new ones every generation. That's most likely not going to happen with the models, at least not for Pokemon besides the starters, popular ones in the anime, and popular ones in competitive play.

the sad thing is I feel this happened with pretty much every pokemon. all just stand awkward and have no life or emotion to them really. which i think is inexcusable because the console 3d models were always done well and really portrayed each mons personlity. I know those models were done by another company..which makes this even worse
