All I edit on my save is putting Pokemon in boxes and adding a couple of items and I'm not banned. These bans will be for people who made really noticeable changes to their game

I got banned, probably for unlocking the entire national dex and also putting rare candies in a bag pocket it shouldn't be in. I don't play rating battles or any other shit so it doesn't affect me desu

I'm not banned. I do nearly all my hacking on a separate 3DS and save though because I'm paranoid about this kind of thing. Only thing I edited my main save for was to edit some memory errors on pokemon from a pkhex bug.

Not banned. Here's a list of the things I've injected or edited using PKHex after I used game sync for the first time:
- Edited bred/caught pokemon natures, genders and IVs
- Gave myself 50 master balls and 20 of each johto ball
- Edited the balls for several of my UBs and Tapu for balltism reasons (they were caught in master balls)

I've not created any pokemon from scratch and only altered existing ones but I doubt that would have gotten you banned anyway. Most likely thing that people are getting banned for is that people either inject outright illegal/unavailable mons and items.

Just played a rating battle and I was fine. I'm pretty certain that people who said "I only hacked legal things, I didn't do anything stupid!!" and still got banned are knowingly withholding information.

I have a the dex entry for Marshadow but wasn't banned. If I used Pkhex to remove the dex entry then synced do you think that any sort of automatic detection would pick up on something shady like dex entries randomly disappearing?

It's just the faggots that actually cheated the game and had a Global Link account (which's only use is for rating battles and competitions) that got cucked. And even then, it's only those that cheated impossible to obtain items and stuff. All people with had hacked legal mons got through the wave.

It isn't wrong on any level to customize a device, and/or play a game in any way you want, including cheating, as long as you don't bother others (I've had fun using sharpedo on land, and being able to access the PC anywhere is really useful). Solution:
1. Make a new save (back up your old one, of course) and play until you get access to the menu, and get yourself a Game Sync ID.
2. Export it using SDF or SVDT to get your "main" file.
3. Open it in a hex editor and copy 8 bytes starting from 0x14008 to 0x1400F.
4. Open your other save that you want to change the Game ID for with a hex editor, and paste over 0x14008 to 0x1400F with the new Game Sync ID you made.
5. Use PKHeX to open your old "main" file, and use Export SAV to fix checksums.
6. Import your save again with SaveDataFiler or SVDT (erase the secure value if necessary).
7. Now you should be able to use your new Game Sync ID on the PGL and sync in-game.

I had wanted to figure out where exactly the game decided you had an ID or not, but after a couple hours of tinkering, I had no luck. But now we know 0x14008-0x1400F controls your Game Sync ID. It's basically as easy as starting a new game, getting an ID, and transplanting said new ID into your old game.

I can confirm that the banwave was focused primarily on people altering their Trainers, BP Amounts, Festival Coin Totals, etc. I have a copy of Sun and Moon that have each been altered with PkHex, the Sun copy only has injected Pokemon and nothing else. No save states changed, hours, coins, or things of the sort. Meanwhile my Moon copy was altered to have a different gender, bonus BP, and extra Festival Coins. The only account effected by the ban was the Moon account with the edited trainer info.

Don't worry about having injected Pokemon or what might happen. So far the account with only injected Pokemon is doing just fine.
