I like favoritism for my favorites, but I hate favoritism for the things I hate.

I don't like it but since it happens anyway I can only hope that it happens to a mon I like.

Just to imagine that Zoroark was supposed to be the gen 5 Lucario but GF prefers to only suck Lucario's dick makes me mad.

I hate it when it affects mons that should be equal. Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise are supposed to be equal, yet only Charizard has a special little spot in literally every generation plus it gets two Megas and shilled in every merchandise.

Shit like this is why I usually hate favoritism, EVEN if it happens to a pokemon I like. Decidueye? I like him, but I definitely wouldn't want him to be favorited over the rest, I'd rather everyone be treated equally. Sure, he probably wouldn't get the treatment I'd like, but I guess I prefer him to be treated as nicely as the rest equally rather than being Game Freak's "apple of my eye" while ignoring the rest.

If it's for pokemon like Lucario and Mewtwo then fine, whatever. But if it's for starter pokemon, that's where it gets annoying. Greninja is one of my favourite starters, but the special treatment it got at the expense of Chesnaught and Delphox definitely wasn't what I wanted to see. It kind of hurts the point of having a group of starter pokemon for children to pick a favorite from if only one is getting all the special attention and abilities.

I know the most of the favoritism is for marketing reasons, but that doesn't mean I can't feel a bit irked about it.

In all honesty, what triggers me more are people for no apparent reason flipping their opinions. When Zoroark was newly revealed, people were generally negative and used to give me shit for linking it. Now all of the sudden, everybody loves it.

That said, I usually don't like favoritism.I want the good stuff (mega evolutions, regional forms or merchandise for that matter) more evenly distributed among ALL pokemon. I don't need a 8912467354th plush toy of the same yellow rat. Yeah, I get it's popular, but it's getting ridiculous.

I mostly agree with you. There's cases where i'm OK with them promoting certain pokemon because it's the logical thing to do from a business standpoint. I was ok with them promoting Greninja because at least they waited until they saw that the general audience loved him enough for a push to be warranted. Same goes for Charizard, in a way. But then there's other cases like Lucario, Blaziken, Sylveon and others that get early appearances where you can tell the main purpose is to flagship certain pokemon as the next big thing, and those are the cases where it irks me.

I guess it depends on what they do. For example I love that Charizard gets two mega evolutions especially since it made physical Charizard viable. However there's things like Greninja where I love the pokemon but then the ashnime gave it a stupid looking special snowflake form rather than a proper mega. And then there's shit Lucario and the insane amounts of pandering it gets.
