Yes actually. When I was in middle school back in '06 I caught a drowzee in red and when I transferred to my crystal version it was shiny. So yeah anything is possible at this point.

No, now it's determined by the PiD, and gen 1 didn't have that, so they'll probably get a randomly genned one, and if so, then almost anything can be shiny.
