Blastoise is the best. Shame it's always been sorta cucked. It's an okay rapid spinner with good coverage while Charizard is a versatile sweeper and venusaur is a fairy-slaughtering tank.

Blastoise probably. It used to be Venusaur, but after playing more strictly defensive teams in playthroughs I grew to like the water turtle. Not that Charizard is strictly bad though.

Venusaur. I like Zard too, but given how many of my friends picked it when we were kids, I slightly distanced myself away from it.

Venusaur, easily, but the others are pretty great too. If Mega Charizard Y had been what Charizard's regular form had looked like then they'd easily be the best group of starters in the whole series in terms of design.

I like all the final forms except for venu, and all the megas except for zard x, but my favorite would have to be mega blastoise. It's so over the top. I love it.

Growing up I would say charmander but I think I might say squirtle now.

Looking back, I don't really like the gen 1 starters. The first stages are cute, true of nearly all starters, butbthe evolutions are just uglynand unappealing in my opinion. The only one I find decent is wartortle. Gen 1 has some great designs but I put the starters near them.

Kids might like dragons or cannons, but they can't appreciate the sophisticated design of Venusaur.

When I was a kid my favorite was Blastoise because a turtle with cannons was the coolest.
He's still the best.

Design-wise, Blastoise and Charizard are the better ones. I'd go for Charizard because it can at least move.
Competitively, Venusaur works the best, Blastoise being second. Not counting the Megas, of course.
