Back in the days of Gen 6, I had this Triples team that consisted of 3 Scarfed Greninja and a Mega Gardevoir. One Greninja would set up Mat Block and the other would switch out and Mega Gardevoir would set up. Next turn, the Greninja that set up Mat Block last turn would switch out, Gardevoir would set up or Hyper Voice, and the other Greninja would set up Mat Block. This pattern continues and just sets up Mat Block every turn, shielding me from all direct attacks. It's only weakness is priority, specifically Bullet Punch and status, specifically Paralysis, and Hoopa

In Doubles I paired Regigigas with defensive Simple Beam/Ally Switch/Tailwind/Light Screen Xatu. It worked pretty OK. Being able to retarget Close Combats helped them both live longer. It worked well in the Red/Green/White Triples event in December of 2015.

This is by far my favorite Milotic set to use.

Leftovers & Modest Nature

Earthquake

Shadow Sneak
Sucker Punch
Ice Punch
Fire Punch

Makes Kecleon into a surprisingly good specially defensive tank.

I remember in gen 6 ou, gale wings talonflame would almost always be the bane of my MegaZam, so I ended up putting Hp flying on him. I would send MegaZam in, and trace gale wings. I think after stealth rocks, Hp flying KOes. Safe to say, it was a horrible strategy, but it was so satisfying when it worked.
Another one would be Custap Berry Harvest Exxegutor. Basically get Eggy to 25% through either endure or soaking up weak/NVE attacks. From there, you could potentially move first every time and fire off powerful leafstorms, then regain your custap through harvest. If harvest doesn't activate, you could protect for an extra chance. Worked mildly decentley as a late game revenge killer/sweeper especially if you got sun going, but psychic grass is too shit a combo for this to really work. It's one of the reasons why I wish Game Freak will release custap soon, as Alola Exxegutor looks like a much better user of this.

Related question, but why is physical nidoking so uncommon?

Do his special moves end up dealing more damage then his physical ones with sheer force or something?
>>
>>31506951
Considering I never saw it apart from myself, I assumed no-one else did.
>>
>>31507545
It's probably more that he has a better special movepool than physical one(ice beam, t-bolt, flamethrower, surf

At least, that was true for many years. With recent generations, and poison becoming good, that might not be true anymore.

I could see him doing alright with something like

poison jab
EQ
Megahorn
sucker punch/stone edge/cock slide/brick break/dragon tail/smart strike/shadow claw
>>
>>31507590
the best part is, the smogonfags wont see it coming
>>
I tried so hard to get Swords Dance + Choice Scarf to work by having a different Pokemon set up Wonder Room. It wasn't a good idea.
>>
>>31507590
Honestly, as a Nidofag myself, that set is pretty suboptimal. Got a decent amount of power, but not enough reliable coverage. Steels like Celesteela shit on physical sets, and Poison Jab is inferior to Sludge wave. Special really is the way to go for a reason
>>
>>31507590
>It's probably more that he has a better special movepool than physical one(ice beam, t-bolt, flamethrower, surf
It's special movepool has perfect coverage and Sludge Wave is a much stronger Poison STAB. When using Sheer Force boosted moves, its special damage output is actually slightly higher than non-SF boosted physical moves.
>>
>>31507590
Thing is, sludge wave still hits harder than jab, while earth power still does a bit more than eq with sheer force. I have seen nidoking that go mix, and have poison jab and earth power. Really screwed with my Florges and Mega Aggron core back in gen 6 uu.

i spent a considerable amount of time creating a doubles team around Assault Vest Regigigas with (powerup punch, return, knock off, and drain punch). paired it with a Mental Herb Whimsicott with Charm and Worry Seed, and im the only person ive ever seen use that exact strategy.

also thick fat Miltank with maxed SpD and Speed.an absolute powerhouse in lower tiers. after a particular battle where i brought my NU team to OU by accident (and miltank singlehandedly secured me the win), Miltank became my favorite pokemon.

You... Never played Weather Wars?

Fire Blast Garchomp with a Ninetales and dedicated Politoed counter (read: Washtom) was a common set. Naive Garchomp in the sun gets all the benefit of Jolly while still having a chance to OHKO Ferro in the sun with no investment

Basically, yes.

The Sheer Force glitch thats just an intended mechanic at this point is hideously good, but unfortunately Nidoking lacks options to abuse it on the Physical side.

Superpower doesn't apply Sheer Force, and neither does Earthquake. if Nidoking gets Bulldoze, that would, but... What would be the purpose of using it then?

252+ Atk Sheer Force Nidoking Bulldoze vs. 252 HP / 88+ Def Ferrothorn: 79-94 (22.4 - 26.7%) -- 25.9% chance to 4HKO
252+ Atk Nidoking Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 88+ Def Ferrothorn: 102-121 (28.9 - 34.3%) -- 4.4% chance to 3HKO

Just ... no point to use Physical and Sheer Force
Especially not when this has no drawback whatsoever.
252 SpA Life Orb Sheer Force Nidoking Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 168 SpD Ferrothorn: 142-169 (40.3 - 48%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

and yes, this still outdamages Earthquake due to Sheer Force boosts despite the lower offensive stat, even with the +10 attack from gen 6 stat changes. 188 EVs and a positive nature EQ matches neutral natured (timid) 252 Special Earth power

How can anyone seriously condone a set like that? Two non-STAB Normal-type moves, plus Grassy Terrain without a Grass move?

I want shitty moves like Razor Wind and Skull Bash to be viable as much as the next guy, but they simply aren't. Just use Giga Impact or Return, man. Better yet, use Power Whip for a nice 270BP move in grassy terrain.

I really don't get Verlisfy. It's not like he's not knowledgeable about Pokémon, it's more like he does it on purpose.

Triple Battle, leading with gallade, gourgeist and slaking.

Use Trick-or-treat on Slacking to give it the ghost type, use skill swap from gallade to give the slacking justified.

Now you have a normal ghost type who gets an attack boost from the only type that's super-effective against it. plus it can move each turn.
