For the arcade you can literally just push a detriment on to the opponent before you begin and that goes for each and every match.
That other one you can just pick whatever type you want to go up against and if I remember right it was just 1 on 1 so you could use something fast with decent coverage like infernape and blitz your way to the second print.
The tower was the tower but with an AI that would use shit teams bar the brain.
Rentals is the only one with a semblance of challenge solely because of the random factor and you're using the same shit the AI is.

The only one that could be considered as such was the Palace which wasn't that bad once you learned how it worked.
That's the thing about gen 3's frontier, each one of them bar the tower and rentals had a learning curve and their own unique traits and difficulty unlike gen 4 where it didn't even have artificial difficulty to its name.

I like Gen 4 way better than Gen 3, 5 or 6.

The HMs are shit, yeah, but HMs have always been shit. Defog was a special kind of retarded too.

The way the region was divided by Mt. Coronet was great. The physical and special split was great. All of the starters were good even if Infernape is clearly the best for D/P because lol no fire types.

All of the new pokemon looked good and the way the game felt nonlinear was good too. Bringing back a time system and day/night and the Poketch for the bottom screen just made it feel like such a huge step up that hasn't been matched since.

The real complaints about the slowness are fixed in Platinum and will very likely be fixed by the remakes. Sinnoh was the best region for me.
