I was originally going to write a lewd fic about Lillie staying behind after all and starting to date the player (male) who she had fallen for.

It would be kind of a reverse NTR/cheating fic. Lillie eventually becomes suspicious about where the first champion of Alola goes constantly. And answers she does find, as the champion basically has practically every notable girl on Alola as crazy horny fuck buddies. So Lillie follows him around and using clever methods of hiding, she just observes all of these intense fucking sessions. She does not know how to handle a situation like this since while he is cheating on her, he still treats her with nothing but pure love when they are together. Not to mention how well he fucks her too.

Unfortunately things came in my way and I really dont have time to write a smutty fic of that size. Just wanted to post the idea atleast, so it wont completely dissappear if I forget it at some point.

For starters, the 'science' behind the Pokemon would be a mystery. Evolution stones and evolution would be untouched upon and would only occur accidentally, rather than on purpose. The fossil Pokemon would still be fossils, and wouldn't have the technology to be revived.

In terms of the Pokemon themselves, capturing them would be much more barbaric and practical. Snares, nets, traps, think hunting wild animals (seeing as how Pokemon in past eras are the equivalent of wild animals). Thus the process of domesticating Pokemon would be much more difficult and time consuming, seeing as how the "love and care" aspect of raising them hasn't been touched upon yet.

We'll use a Poochyena as the most basic example. Hunters would travel outside and slay the pup's mother, and proceed to throw the dog into a sack and bring it back to town to sell in the markets. This pup would become a pet over time, copying the domestication process of wolves.

A more interesting topic would be Ghost Pokemon. How long did it take people to realize these Pokemon weren't evil spirits haunting them? Drifloon comes to mind, given its Pokedex entry. How would they combat these threats if they can't see them? An even better question, how they catch them without a Pokeball? An easy prompt for this would be a young child, too young to understand the dangers of the world, meeting and befriending one of these "evil spirits". Maybe a Spiritomb. The parents/townspeople would believe the child is just speaking to an imaginary friend when in reality something resides in the stone. Little meetings and bonds such as this would be the backbone for people coming to accept/use Ghost Pokemon in society/battle.

Legendary Pokemon would still have religions surrounding them, that part is easy. (1/?)

Pokemon battles would be an absolute slaughter. Once the domestication process was complete, Pokemon would be used in wars as weapons, with varying tactics. Throughout the Edo period Croagunks would be utilized to slip poison into cups of tea. In America, wild Tauros or Rapidash would be used to trample/maim enemies. Unsuspecting enemy troops would be bombarded by a swarm of Beedrill. Any tactic you could think of would be utilized to gain a position of power. The Gyms in the past eras would be positions of power.

Well, we know the Pokéball was not the only method available for containment; though there it depends on what do we mean with Pokéball. While the modern Pokéball exists likely only as recently as 60 years ago tops (M4), the concept itself was already in use 800 years ago (M8) and probably thousands of years before that (anime Giant Pokémon).

A society before a practical implementation of a Pokéball likely had no means to travel fast, or travel long distances with Pokémon, that was not by the Pokémon themselves. Meaning the presence of what we acknowledge as "HM slaves" would have been prominent, but at the same time they would have been better trained.

Picking and training Pokémon mostly to accompany and assist on the current area and timeframe of travel would have been common, and probably those Pokémon would not have been released as we understand it today, but rather returned to their normal lives in a sort of "unpaid leave" (maybe paid, depends on the logistics), where they hopefully would come ready to assist you again were you to travel back to the region / province later for some reason.

Without mass, fast means of healing (that we know of), trainer battles would have been more chivalric, even with more show-off for the sport, and concepts like the 'athlons or Contests equivalents would have been widespread even in times of war - better to smash a harmless rock than to downtime or main what outside the circus arena would have been a valuable ally - for you and your country.

While it's never fully explained there are also the armors used by Movie 12's villain to control his Pokemon. They almost certainly predate anything capable of actual confinement, given by the timing and how the mere concept of Poké Balls blows the people of that time away.

They're probably simple torture devices used to inflict pain as needed to ensure obedience.

I found a neat little new-ish story today about a kid who hunts pokemon for a living to haul them off to his creepy scientist dad, and has some mysterious bond with a latios they have in captivity. Only three chapters in but seems to be heavy on the psychological drama if you're into that sort of stuff.

Are there any fanfics that go into greater detail about the way combat would work in pokemon? Not like real world physics or anything of the sort, but of the way certain pokemon would fight and emergent strategies for combat. I want to delve into what a real live pokemon "meta" would be like, but I'm not big into fanfics so I don't know if anybody has tried it yet.

While I can't say I've thought about any sort of 'meta' in the pokemon world, I do try to think and make my pokemon battles at least somewhat interesting.

I've used game mechanics/rules as a framework for how things play out in a realistic manner, example:
A deerling used double kick on a whirlipede, got pierced by its poisonous spines (poison point ability), became unable to stand on injured feet, and was then venoshocked for the KO

I don't know if my stuff has the amount of detail you're looking for though. I hardly have that many 'battles' in the first place.

Depends on what you write. For maximum consistency, when writing fics set in the G1-G4 timeframe (or right out novelizations of those), always use ALLCAPS for all POKEMON and ITEM names.

I'm keeping with OOU canon spellings for the time being mostly due to inertia, but I'm internally debating switching to decapitalized for common/collective nouns for the next time I write a longfic.

I have a VERY simple fanfic request:

I would intrigued on reading a fanfic about a village, filled with Pokémons, where GAY is the "normal" where Straight is not.

Here is the plot:
It's about these Serperior mothers taking thier child for a walk. Everything is going fine until they saw other pokemon dating or kissing the opposite sex of thier gender. They were disgust and told their daughter about how "being straight is wrong and sinful!" kinda of scenario.

I've headcanon'd for a bit now that in older eras of the pokemon-world, a trainer having six pokemon on hand and keeping them under control would be some kind of fucking warlord or quasi-god-king. In otherwords: it didn't really happen.

Instead even the best tended to keep maybe three at a time and a majority of 'trainers' only had one pokemon (thus, where the concept of 'partner' pokemon comes from in-universe) and humans would fight alongside their partners.

In my AU there existed Apricorns before pokeballs became mainstream. That is similar to canon from the games, but as a matter of style I try to always back up world building with pseudo-science. The issue of what you might call "control due to the capture device" is a large theme in my most recent works. Anyway, has there ever been a worthwhile story that ends with Ash evolving Pikachu? I'd have thought it would be a common story that someone would've semi-competently written given the franchise's 20 years, but I've only found like 4 stories that touched on it, and all of them sucked hard.

team rocket is easily the best because they're relatable to organized crime in the real world and thus have some inherent emotional import that all of these goofy clown car fraternities lack

team magma/team aqua were complete jokes, team galactic was so poorly thought out their goal was borderline incomprehensible, team plasma almost made the villainous teams interesting again by at least focusing on a semi-believable conflict (eco terrorists vs the excesses of industralization) but team flare managed to bring everything back to retardville in the sequel

team skull was pretty fun but they were never a serious threat in themselves so I can't really put them on the same level as team rocket
