But all of the death generals except Olegmon are worse than Tactimon, Blastmon, and Lilithmon (who turned into dead and Team Rocket), Mervamon was terrible and made even worse by making her a tacked-on love interest for Beelzebumon near the end, EdgelordKnightmon was probably the worst character in the show (though at least he got his smug shit pushed in by the real villain, so I'll give them that), and capturing territories was much more interesting than just "Fight this set number of strong guys. This is your strong guy for the next two episodes. Go.". It was just a gigantic downgrade from the first half, which was actually pretty good.

yeah the death generals are more or less motw, but I like how they scale up the damage they are causing, and honestly the only weak episode I can see are the Dorbickmon and Zamielmon eps. Even Gravimon ep was worth it for Deckerdramon.

Also in DG, the Digital world has already been conquered, so it's less risk and more of freedom fighting.

Blastmon and Lilithmon being turned like that was actually intentional given the plot point, and the comeback was worth it. It's not "just beat the strong guy", they develop their characters, move the plot, and gain power ups

it's essentially Kamen Rider storytelling in Digimon format

Blastmon and Lilithmon at least got a lot of character development during that part and their last few moments alive were pretty great, even if it meant being a worthless joke characters throughout it. But I still don't really like the change in format. When they showed how the Digital World was being restored with all of the territories under control of the different armies and the bad guys that Xros Hearts had beaten were coming back as good guys, I was really excited for it to take it to the next step and do something like what was shown in the intro. But then they immediately backpedalled out of it in the same episode. The first half didn't have Kamen Rider storytelling, so I didn't like the change to that. I liked Xros Wars because it felt like something new, so I was really disappointed that they did that. At least later they went back to using more of the members of the team instead of just the golden guys. But I still feel that it never recovered.

Applimon is different, but I wouldn't say it's bad, Haru annoys me with his green hair and would maybe not look like a tard if he opened his jacket but he is getting a bit better. Gatchmon is pretty good overall, I enjoy most of the time he is around. Eri is the girl, she is a pink haired idol who's gimmick is Action games and has some kind of exploding punch catchprase that's her idol tagline with her partner Dokamon who is meh, he is meant to be the strong guy but really isn't. Then Astra and Musimon are like those 10 years olds on Youtube, but with a few chill moments.

In short, don't just write it off, give it a go, try up to Eri maybe then if you don't like it stop.
