>Satoshi's classmate Mao tells him that the Pancake Race will soon take place. This is a race where Trainers and Pokémon work together to carry pancakes stacked up on a plate to the goal as fast as they can without the stack collapsing. SM14 - The Fruit of Courage: Lilie and Rokon! (Feb 9th)
>The Pokémon egg Satoshi and his friends have all been taking care of together finally hatches, and they're all really excited about it. Lilie has been in charge of the egg, and her emotions towards it hatching are really strong. But she is still unable to touch Pokémon, so she ends up feeling down about the entire thing. And then, after school that day, an ominous shadow has its eyes set on Lilie while she's on her way home.

Every so often they make a filler that is just that much shitter than others. In these cases. it can be considered acceptable to skip or skim over such episodes. The Treasure Hunter Relicanth one, the Cottonee in love one and the Sophocles one are examples of such shit.

Even the early episodes feel like filler because there is no goal anymore. Lillie's egg episode was filler, Lana ep was filler. The show is now filler.

Well, the Fake-Out wasn't used to deal damage but a set-up for a guaranteed Knock Off attack. Then Arm Thrust took off some amount and a partial hit from a Belly Drum Z-Move could shave off all but a few HP left. I mean, if it was a full on direct hit, Pikachu shouldn't have survived, but it was dodging and doing barrel rolls everything, so it's somewhat believable.

There's the traditional Elite Four + Champion, but that's not the same kind of league that's been shown in the anime. The lack of gyms in the games calls into question whether a league tournament is really going to happen, though I wouldn't be surprised if it were to happen anyway.

What did he mean by this?

Having rewatched the episode with subs, I thin I get why it feels so underwhelming. The entire Pikachu/Hariteyama battle is literally just Pikachu trying different kinds of shit that doesn't work because Satoshi knows he can only use the Z-Move once, then they decide to try a Z-Move anyway after running out of other options, set it up, and execute it. And the episode treats it as an instant win button.

That's it, the entire battle is just 10 minutes of "our insta-win move might fail so we should explore other options" and then they try it anyway and it works.

That's not exciting writing, and I really hope this is not how Z-Moves will be treated from here on.

I'm assuming he mistyped and meant the "Kanto part of OS, AG". ADV, DP, and XY are probably all worth the full sit-through.

OS ranged from really good to really fucking boring, the latter mostly concentrated in Johto.

I think BW gets a little more hate here than it deserves because of certain key episodes, but I actually think it has quite a few fun episodes in there. The problem is that they screwed up a lot of the major episodes where Ash advanced his main badge/league quest and for a lot of people that overshadows what good episodes the show actually had.

The whole process of watching Sandile grow was a highlight, for instance.

It's not just a matter of key episodes. It's that they so many other important things. Iris had some good backstory episodes, but they were a bit inconsistent with her whiny personality. She just ended up being this sanctimonious bitch, which annoyed viewers more than any positive contribution it made. I hate how uncreative they were with Ash's team in Unova. The most added Pokemon of any Gen and they went with the whole "3 starters, first route bird and bug" thing. They added a bunch of extra Pokemon for Ash to catch to make up for that but they all ended up being underdeveloped.

Snivy was hyped up early on but ended up having a shitty battle record. Tepig's story was basically just left hanging and then solved in a random episode as if they just remembered it randomly. Oshawott was Oshawott.

I have Paul and Shota as best rivals, not just because they where teased for a decent amount of time, but because they actually interacted and changed each other, this is important for Anime rivalries.

Worst has to be Trip or the guy with Meowth, Shiny Magneton dude gave us one of the best Ash battles ever ending Ash shitty battles in Johto before we are treated with nice stuff, the metang guy set the bar for the next Battle so he isn't terrible, Barry was decent, Alain was annoying for the audience but wasn't horrible in context, Zebstrika Sawk dude actually gave us the only good battle in Unova League, let that one sink in.
