Is Multi much harder than Doubles? It took me a while to beat Doubles and the idea of having to rely on an AI doesn't really thrill me
>>
>>31423513
You could another person /ds to do it with yourself
>>
How does anyone play Doubles with all the slowdowns

Absolutely kills my interest in it damn. What team can I use to cheese this shit?
>>
>>31423543
I got pissed with doubles but as soon as inwas reaching 40+ rounds the slowless wasnt as apparent

Maybe because of excitement
>>
I want to make the Mudsdale I used in my Moon playthrough viable in the battle tree. It has an Adamant nature. What do I need to do?
>>
What's a nice fast physical attacker I can scarf for them revenges and u-turns
>>
>>31423676
You could give it an Assault Vest and pair it with a flying type to spam Earthquake, or you could build a Trick Room team
>>
>>31423676

>>
If I wanted to build a team to exclusively crush the battle tree, what would I build?

I'm thinking of challenging the battle tree for the first time. I've just bred a really nice shiny Porygon (Timid, going to be a Porygon-Z). I'm not sure what else to build into my team or if I should aim for Singles or Doubles. Ideally, I don't want to use the Tapus or UBs because I prefer breeding to SRing for Pokemon to use.
>>
>>31423766

>>31423711

I use Tsareena

Tsareena @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Queenly Majesty
Evs: 4 HP/ 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature

- Trop Kick
- High Jump Kick
- Play Rough
- U-turn
>>
>>31423837
Buzzwole is faster than Tsareena...
>>
>>31423837
Shit I already got one bred and set up exactly like that. First thing I bred in SM since I rather liked her.

That said the 90% on play rough and high jump miss bothered me just a little so I was looking for alternatives
>>
Buzzwole has better coverage/stats and a decent abulity
>>
>>31423935
But Buzzwole isn't a cute little princess-turned-queen
>>
>>31423863
As an end game cleaner I use Fightium-Z Pheromosa. Z-Hi Jump Kick OHKOs practically anything

Tapu Koko?
>>
I'm trying this for super doubles

Tapu Koko @ Fairium Z
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Dazzling Gleam
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Greninja-Ash (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Water Shuriken
- Ice Beam

Tapu Lele @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast

Metagross-Mega @ Metagrossite
Ability: Tough Claws
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt
- Bullet Punch
- Hammer Arm

Koko and Greninja first, when they faint, if they do, Lele and Megagross can use boosted Psychic AND Zen Headmiss. Bullet punch kind of becomes a useless move because of psychic terrain but oh well, it's a relatively small price to pay for the moves buff. Also THAT Scarf Aerodactyl is a flying type so I can use BP on it
>>
>>31424164
>2 ice weaknesses
>2 ghost weaknesses
Basically you can switch from lele to chomp to avoid poison, chomp to lele to avoid Dragon, and dhelmise to chomp to avoid fire. Those are your only resisted switch-ins to SE moves. Dhelmise has to go.
>>
>>31424607
Any Recomendation?
A Good PA?
>>
>>31423513

Depends on your partner, if you can get Colress leading with his Megagross following up with his AV Magnezone or a Porygon, it's piss easy.

I'm getting pretty tired of Fake Out shaneningans. Specially when I'm trying to do Z-Conversion.
>>
>>31424222
I strongly recommend Mat Block (drop hydro miss imo) on Greninja just to save in case you miss a KO with Koko which I also would suggest running Specs on. Also Sash on Greninja helps it take advantage of its ability more often from my experience. Watch out for Sash and Trick Room leads

Grind out singles/doubles until you encounter a trainer with two powerful pokemon. They will use the first two Pokemon on their team, not the 3rd. Make sure to reference the Battle Tree pokemon spreadsheet to make sure you know exactly what set they are using. Scouting them will copy the exact sets they used.

The more non-attacking moves they have available the more likely they are to waste turns. I.e. the AI loves setting up weather, so Mega Garchomp uses Sandstorm turn 1 90%+ of the time. Wally and Cynthia can both use Garchomp, and Colress can use Megagross, they are the "go-to" picks. Wally can have both Mega Gallade and Mega Garchomp on the same team though, so try to avoid that one as it's just a waste of an item slot.

Megagross is popular as the set only has attacking moves guaranteeing that it will be dealing damage every turn.

Metagross-4 @ Metagrossite
Jolly Nature
252 Attk/252 Speed
Zen Headbutt
Meteor Mash
Brick Break
Bullet Punch
>>
>>31424643
A good style type would fit well, maybe even mega lucario. You could use some priority.
>>
>>31424753
I used to have Scald, but I learned it's all or nothing at the Tree so I'll stick with Hydro Miss for now. Also no specs, it's a good item, yes, but I don't wanna have TWO choice items in the same team. I also might get rid of HP ice for now and get taunt instead on Koko.

>>
>>31425023
>bright powder
OH FUCK, I completely forgot about that item, fuck it, back to Scald
>>
>>31424818

Not necessarily, Hammer Arm has way more immediate impact, but the speed reduction can definitely come around and bite you in the ass especially since Megagross has a great speed tier of 115. Brick Break is weaker, but more consistent and every once in awhile when it busts through Screens it really shines.

That isn't a set I'm recommending someone use per se, I'm just pointing out the Megagross set used by NPCs in the Battle Tree. Notice the name "Metagross-4," that simply means it's the 4/4th Metagross set available.

Here's the spreadsheet, bookmark this shit: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1D7T0jCHBkDppjTB0_rJyK0houk8zE3wLmZ1DlVXEkXg/edit#gid=0

Ctrl-F is your friend. Search Metagross and you'll see the 4 available sets for it.
>>
>>31425041

110 Speed*, fucked that one up. 110 is still fantastic as it's 40 higher than regular Metagross' base 70 Speed.
>>
>>31425006
The tree should have had hau, gladion, and kukui...and heck all the title defense opponets.
>>
>>31424791

It's the exact opposite my dude.

Consistency > Everything.

There's a reason there are so many bullshit-ass gimmick sets in the post-game battle facility: the NPC only needs to win once, and you only need to lose once.

The AI can keep throwing gimmicks at you until eventually one of them sticks, and if your team can't handle it you go down in flames. You can't afford to use those same gimmicks, (i.e. Sheer Cold,) because you need to win every single fight as consistently as possible.

90 Accuracy moves are the bare-minimum, and even then that 10% miss chance can totally come around and fuck you. There's a reason Wide Lens is often used on Azumarill/Mimikyu/Pheromosa. Z-moves help a bit now, as they have 100% base accuracy regardless of what the original moves accuracy was, but it's a one time use.
>>
First set of 50.

Adamant Aquaranid
Life Orb HP/atk EVS
Liqudation
Soak
Toxic
Aqua Ring

Pory2
Tri Attack
thunderbolt
Ice Beam
Recover

M-Lucario
Jolly
Swords Dance
Close Combat
Bullet Punch
Poison Jab

Especially satisfying toward the end, both the 49th challenge and Red had mega venusaur who I soaked then poisoned. Set up 3 Swords Dances on M-lega lucario for 2 full sweeps in a row.

Whoever posted this, thank you, I just got to 50 but took a break, only thing that I didn't follow completely is the gyarados mine is jolly and instead of dragon dance has earthquake, but pretty much because I already had him and was to lazy to breed a new one, it still worked tho, I do feel ice beam instead of psychic may be better for primarina, but I didn't really have much trouble, it's pretty great when they throw 2 or 4 electric pokemons at you with the marowak.
>>
I've been trying for a while with varied teams, usually losing to something unlucky in the 40's- my brother gets straight to 50 in super singles on his first try with LO chomp, 4 attacks mega gengar and AV muk. Fucken

Should mention that I'm on my way to catch celesteela now. Any specific natures I should have on one?
>>
>>31426760

Naughty Pheromosa works but Naive is considered best for the most part.
>>
>>31426760
>Naughty
Pretty good, Beast Boost will raise your Attack, and Pheromosa outspeeds 98% of the pokemon in the tree even with neutral speed since Scarf is not really that common. It also allows you to throw in an Ice Beam a make her a mixed attacker
>Modest
Throw that shit in the trash lmao

Gyarados w/Gyaradosite
Intimidate
Jolly, 252 Atk/252 Speed/4 Def
Waterfall
Crunch
Earthquake
Dragon Dance

Tsareena w/Expert Belt
Queenly Majesty
Adamant, 252 Atk/252 Speed/4 SpDef
Trop Kick
U-turn
High Jump Kick
Play Rough

Chandelure w/Life Orb
Flash Fire
Timid, 252 SpAtk/252 Speed/4 Spdef
Fire Blast
Psychic
Shadow Ball
Energy Ball

I havent tested this team, but i'd like some critique before I jump in. I went for a FWG type core, and all of Gyarados's weaknesses post-Mega are covered by Chandelure. Tsareena is just there, I guess.
>>

I'm a retard. Tsareena checks electric types, although I'm sure there are better checks to those.

Not really, I hate this stupid RNG based partner system.

XY and ORAS had a much better system so you could just add in friends codes of people you wanted to use. All it would take it one thread with
>post your battle maison team
and you'd instantly be able to select something you could work with that matched the playstyle you wanted. Instead you have to go 30+ to even start getting good teams, and hope to god that every 10th battle, your opponent has the exact team and set you want.

I like a normal type in there since you have two ghost-weak Pokemon. Can't go wrong with a porygon2 or porygon Z but I'm quite partial to bewear myself. Especially since you'll run into a ton of special walls if you're lacking a good physical attacker.

This is the set that powerhoused me through super singles, if anybody is struggling:

PorygonZ - Timid - Normalium
252 Sp.Atk/252 Spd/4 HP
Thunderbolt
Conversion
Ice Beam
Shadow Ball

Kartana - Jolly - Focus Sash
252 Atk/252 Spd/4 HP
Leaf Blade
Smart Strike
Sacred Sword
Night Slash

Tapu Lele - Modest - Choice Specs
252 Sp.Atk/252 Spd/4 HP
Dazzling Gleam (replace for coverage, this is just what I had for whatever reason)
Psychic
Moonblast
Thunderbolt

Lead with PorygonZ, immediately use Z-Conversion and sweep with thunderbolt. When they start sending ground types to counter you, use ice beam. Shadow Ball for coverage. If I knew PorygonZ couldn't take something one-on-one I was always able to switch to Kartana or Lele and wreck shop with them. If PorygonZ happens to get knocked out with the enemy at low health, use Kartana to get an easy Beast Boost and continue sweeping. Choice specs psychic surge psychic from Lele K.O.s basically everything that isn't dark type.

Enjoy!

Thanks. Been looking at other sets here too. I'll be trying singles first.
>>
>>31424222
Our third and fourth are almost the same and I made it to battle 62.

My team:

Ribombee (Timid) @ Focus Sash
-Quiver Dance
-Pollen Puff
-Moonblast
-Baton Pass

Oricorio-Pom Pom (Timid) @ Flyinium-Z
-Revelation Dance
-Air Slash
-Baton Pass
-Protect

Metagross (Jolly) @ Metagrossnite
-Meteor Mash
-Zen Headbutt
-Hammer Arm
-Earthquake

Tapu Lele (Timid) @ Choice Specs
-Psychic
-Psyshock
-Moonblast
-Dazzling Gleam

Ribombee never usually was able to use Baton Pass, which is why I put it on Oricorio, too. A lot of the time it'd end up Metagross and Oricorio out, so EQ was pretty usable and saved my life quite a few times. I never had to use that move paired w Lele or Ribombee thankfully.

Oricorio with Baton Pass was also great because once or twice I was able to pass a SD or DD to Metagross.

I switched Shadow Ball for Dazzling Gleam on Lele about halfway through and I was so glad I did. It came in handy a lot, and I never got into a situation where Shadow Ball would've done me better.

I ended up losing because of a Hammer Arm miss letting Lele get OHKO by Bisharp as whatever the other thing was killed Metagross. Oh well—I just wanted to get through 50 anyway.
>>

Raddchu (Raichu-Alola) (M) @ Aloraichium Z
Ability: Surge Surfer
Level: 50
EVs: 100 HP / 252 SpA / 156 Spe
Modest Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Psychic
- Grass Knot
- Fake Out

I used to use Protect with a Bulldoze Milotic but I had him relearn Fake Out since he already has the necessary speed boost with Tapu Koko as his partner.
>>
>>31439642
What are the EVs for
>>
>>31439743
156 EVs gives 150 speed, which goes to 225 with Electric Terrain, faster than anything unboosted in the Tree. 100 HP is filler but does help prevent some OHKOs with non-STAB SE hits.
>>
>>31439814
but 150 speed becomes 300 with surge surfer

Primarina
Item: Primarina Z (trying to get an assault vest)
Sparkling Aria
Energy Ball
Ice Beam
Moonblast

A-Sandslash
Item: Never-Melt Ice
Icicle Crash
Earthquake
Swords Dance
Iron Head

yes I know all three of them have ice moves
>>
Tapu Lele is completely ridiculous. Modest Specs Psychic OHKOs everything that isnt dark type or AV. It 2HKO'd a Bastiodon in the sand. Darks get Moonblasted, but I think I clicked Moonblast a total of 6 times on my streak to 50

Tapu Lele w/Choice Specs
Modest, 252 Spatk, 252 Spatk, 4 Def
Psychic
Moonblast
Shadow Ball
Hidden Power Fire

Cloyster w/Focus Sash
Naive, 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 Def
Hydro Pump
Shell Smash
Rock Blast
Icicle Spear

Garchomp w/Life Orb
Jolly, 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 4 Spdef
Earthquake
Dragon Claw
Stone Edge
Outrage

Garchomp acted more as fodder for Lele to switch moves than anything else. But I would like to say that Cloyster + Psychic Terrain is an amazing strategy. Shell Smash as youre brought down to your sash, and since priority doesn't work, you outspeed literally every non-boosted thing.

I plan on doing Doubles next, but I'm gonna meme with bird spam w/Staraptor, Honchkrow, Mega Mence and a fourth bird that I havent decided on yet, either Dragonite or Aerodactyl.

035Clefairy.png
168KB, 431x431px
Surprised that Clefairy isn't mentioned more for doubles. Theorymonning here, but these are what sets it apart:

>Friend Guard to embiggen allie's bulk
>Gravity makes moves like Pheremosa's Focus Blast (It can't use HJK in high gravity) or Megagross' STABs guaranteed hits
>Learns Sportlight, which is a better version of Follow Me + Protect
>Wish + Spotlight to stall for longevity. Granted, Wish Passing is less than ideal because it only has 70 base HP

It can run a utility move in it's last slot
>Misty Terrain/Aromatherapy
>Lucky Chant
>Thunder Wave
>Encore
>Sing (Accuracy is embiggened by Gravity to 92%)
>Heal Pulse

Unfortunately, it has next to no offensive presence aside from Toxic and Spotlight. Seismic Toss is possible from the Gen 3 tutor, but it is incompatible with Friend Guard, it's Hidden Ability.

Could it work?

nihilego could be a good teammate for coverage. it covers bulu's poison, fire, and flying weaknesses. bulu covers nihilego's water and ground weakness and grassy terrain could help with nihilego's ground weakness when in a tight situation. A third option could be aegislash to take care of ice types and psychic types or consider a water type if you dont want two pokemon with fire weaknesses, maybe mega gyarados.

>Finally decide to do Battle Tree last night

How do you get over ladder anxiety? Using my ingame Primarina, Salamence and Mimikyu, they are EV trained by not IV'd or natured (apart from Mimikyu having a decent defensive nature, sassy iirc).
>>
Guys, how come regular battle tree managed to be harder than supers?
>>
>>31445055
30s is the natural time to have it, it's when the Tree starts bringing out the big guns

If you haven't seen Megas yet, you will be seeing them soon. For reference Megas start appearing around the 20s and Legendaries start appearing around 40s

Don't worry about it, and if worried about losing your streak, start scouting some good trainers for Super Multis
>>
>>31445141
I've seen a couple of megas in the 20s, and had mega pinsir at battle 10 (guzma iirc). I am still winning battles comfortably (even though the natures are quite poor, AV Primarina (Ice Beam Scald EB Moonblast), Megamence (DE EQ DQ Roost) and Mimikyu (defensively EV'd with Lum, SD SS PR LL) is still doing comfortably.

I am still soft resetting my Tapus and UBs (haven't had much time to play since release) so right now this is the best I've got.

Doubles was fun though, Used a trick room team with Misdreavous and A-Golem in the front with Drampa and Mimikyu in the back. It probably won't handle super doubles, but it was quite straightforward to setup trick room while wiping most of the frontrow with golem (EQ Explosion Thunderpunch Smackdown, holding Sash), bring Drampa in to clean up the backrow and I had Perish Song for the backrow along with Mimikyu's inherent stalliness. Honestly, I feel that Misdreavous is underrated this year, you can EV it to survive any single hit in the format and it works beautifully alongside Golem (which is taking off in VGC, slowly but surely) and EQ users without an issue. Also has Pain Split and Perish Song, which is nice on a TR setter.
>>
>>31445245
Speaking of doubles and undderrated, I cleared my doubles with Ribombee and Oricorio dance team and Celesteela and AV Mudsdale in the back

Unfortunately it needs to be polished to work right in Supers as it died around the 30 mark

I do however think that people overlook Oricorio and its ability and its utilization for Doubles.. Smogon passes it off as gimmicky but I think it can work well with the correct synergy
>>
Lele @ Lum
Modest
Psychic
Moonblast
Taunt
Calm Mind

Metagross @ Metagrosite
Jolly
Meteor Mash
Zen Headbutt
Earthquake
Hone Claws

Mandibuzz @ Leftovers
Foul Play
Toxic
Roost
Tailwind

What are my chances of getting a 50 streak with this team?

I chose Mandibuzz due to its synergy with Metagross. Are there any other options? Pelipper seems too weak to properly stall.
>>
>Cynthia shows up at 40

W-well at least I got to take out the Garchomp easily once I realised it was scarf locked into EQ and I had my Salamence in the back.

>>
>>31445895
On that topic, first legendaries sighted at battle 44. Veteran Ignacio with Terrakion 1, Latios 2, Tornadus 1. Swept with Primarina and scouted, should be quite nice for multis.

50 streak get, guess I should post the team so y'all can see I was hardly using top mons. Maybe it can serve as an inspiration for people who don't think they can do it.

Primarina @Assault Vest
Torrent
Naive (yep, -Sp.Def Primarina, it was my starter. All stats raised to max with gold bottlecap)
252HP 4Def 252Sp.Atk
Ice Beam
Scald
Energy Ball
Moonblast

Salamence @Salamencite
Intimidate
Quirky Nature (Pretty good in all stats except speed, which was decent)
4 HP 252 Atk 252 Spe
Dragon Claw
Earthquake
Double-Edge
Roost

Mimikyu @Lum Berry
Disguise
Careful (P Good Speed and HP, V Good Atk and Def, Decent Sp.Def and Sp.Atk)
252 Sp.Def, some spread of HP and Atk, think it was about 40 Atk)
Swords Dance
Shadow Sneak
Play Rough
Leech Life

As you can see, this was far from an optimised team. Bad natures, bad IVs, the Mimikyu was EV'd to account for the lower attack iirc. Ganbatte anon-kun!

I didn't mean the mons weren't top mons. I mean that they were not bred, had terrible IVs, and movesets cobbled together.

My point wasn't winning with shitmons, my point was winning without having a 10/10 super perfect soft reset legends/20 hours of breeding teams.

You got backed into a corner for 1v1 with a type disadvantage, that means you made mistakes somewhere previously that could have left you with someone to handle or at least PP stall Fire Blast.

You want to avoid being on your last Pokemon at all costs, as then it's just a luck of the draw when your opponent sends out a mon. If they send out a good match-up and you can't switch it's usually gg no re.

If you want to see some serious shit:

1/2

Just got a 50 win streak in Singles using the following:

Tapu Lele w. Life Orb, Psychic Surge
Timid, 252 SpA, 252 Spe, 4 SpD
Psychic
Thunderbolt
Shadow Ball
Moonblast

Toxapex w. Black Sludge, Regenerator
Bold, 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 SpD
Scald
Haze
Toxic
Recover

Garchomp w. Rocky Helmet, Rough Skin
Jolly, 252 Att, 252 Spe, 4 Def
Outrage
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Stone Edge

Initially sweep with Lele until you come up against something you know you can't OHKO. Pretty self explanatory. Decided to include Thunderbolt over Focus Miss / Calm Mind for coverage, came in very handy for some battles (especially against Red's Lapras and Blastoise), probably ended up using it more than Shadow Ball overall.

Toxapex is very handy for tanking poison and steel type moves that would otherwise KO Lele, or ice type moves when Garchomp is out. Switching when the opponent has Trick Room set up usually means Toxapex will move first the following turn. Toxistall with Recover, use Haze to prevent setup or to simply burn a turn. Scald for burning steel types and for chip damage when you're at full health, etc. Switch to Garchomp if you know an electric type move is coming - you get a free switch plus Regenerator recovery.

In some cases you could keep switching to stall electric types that would be forced to use a different move when Chomp is out. Tox can potentially heal all damage through Regenerator while the opponent faints through Toxic damage. I almost always was in a better spot after using this technique.

Garchomp was basically used for clean up, but could be relied on to initially sweep if need be. Used Swords Dance occasionally, but usually the move's initial power was enough to finish off whatever was left. Never used Stone Miss; it was essentially there just for Togekiss. Switching from Chomp to Lele is good for trapping Cynthia's Scarf Chomp into Outrage.

Garchomp was basically used for clean up, but could be relied on to initially sweep if need be. Used Swords Dance occasionally, but usually the move's initial power was enough to finish off whatever was left. Never used Stone Miss; it was essentially there just for Togekiss if Chomp was the last one standing. Switching from Chomp to Lele is good for trapping Cynthia's Scarf Chomp into Outrage.

Overall it’s a pretty straightforward team that I’m sure has been posted here before. I prefer Life Orb on Lele over Expert Belt or Choice Specs / Scarf. But I guess all could be used effectively. Black Sludge and Rocky Helmet are again pretty simple choices.

While sweeping an opponent’s team in three turns with Lele was preferable, this team also gives you a lot of chances for a free / good switch if need be. Of course keeping all team members alive gives you the most options for switching throughout the battle.

No doubt there are better teams out there, but if it worked for me it could work for you. Good luck.
