So there is a japanese comedy group who have been doing "batsu" games (essentially punishment games) and each new year's, they have a special. They essentially trap themselves in a scenario for 24 hours and if they laugh, they get smacked on their ass. The entire show is rigged to try and get them to laugh.

Yeah the main comedy duo have been around since 1982 or something. The batsu game thing has been around since 2000 i think which goes to show how popular it is. They also do the "Silent library" show which i've seen copied by other stations.
