Mightyena or a Horsea (I don't recall which I encountered first) in Emerald. I've long since lost the cartridge, so they're both gone until found, or forever. Mightyena was found by accident on Route 120, while Seadra, again by accident, was around Route 134, if I recall correctly.

It's been a wild ride, Shinies will always be on accident.

Masuda Method a Vulpix in only 92 eggs. It was my first time trying the Masuda Method, in Black. It was female and even inherited Drought which wasn't guaranteed to pass on.

Shinies don't exist within the actual playthrough though. My theory is that they're locked until postgame.

Other than the Red Gyarados in Gold Version, I once found a shiny Polywag (light blue). I was a kid, and of coruse only had lvl ~100 pokemon, while fighting that lvl 40 polywag. I ran out of pokeballs and had to off it. Was really jelly of my friend who had found a green Kingler and managed to catch it.

Unown 'I' in Gold. Was trying to find all of the Unown letters at the time, and ended up catching it.

I didn't know about shinies, because G/S had just recently released, and the Ruins of Alph was still early in the game, so at the time I didn't realize the full value of it in till much latter.

I can't remember if it was a Silver Abra on SoulSilver or the weird Tentacool of Ruby, but it probably was one of those 2.

First shiny ever seen was a Gravellar in Silver. Chucked balls at it and never caught it.

First one I caught was a Baltoy. Didn't know shininess stays when evolving so I slapped an everstone on it and leveled it to 100.

First one in SM is an Eevee I found when SOSing for an Espeon. It eventually called one out but I wanted that shiny.

My first shiny I caught was a sentret in the wild on soul silver. Random pure luck. But, if you want to get specific, my very first encounter with a shiny was a graveler in pearl. Unfortunately, it self destruct before I could catch it.

First non-shiny Gyarados was Golbat in Sapphire which I lost due to being utterly retarded in gen IV GTS. I'm pathetically lucky when it comes to shinies. In every non-remake game I played I've gotten a shiny but I never run into them in remakes. Platinum is the only non-remake in which I never ran into a shiny.

Shiny Sandshrew back in Sapphire version as a kid. I caught the tail end of the animation, not sure if something happened. Then I noticed it looked slightly green, figured I'd try to catch it. Didn't realize until after that it was shiny like Gyarados was in Silver.
Still have him almost 12 years later, crazy how old it is. Since then, I've soft resetted, masuda'd, and caught a lot more but he was the first.
