I felt that way when Sun and Moon came out and I could only get it during the first week of December. By that time a lot of the hype had died down. Same thing happened when XY and ORAS came out. The only two gens where I managed to get the games on launch day were gen 4 with Diamond and Gen 5 with Black, with most of my best experiences coming from Black.

Plus my family is unironically great and always has something going on every other weekend if I need to do something.
