I know Pokemon games are meant for kids but that's not an excuse to make your story shit beyond belief. Digimon, even though it targets the same demographic as Pokemon, is miles better at writing stories that everyone can enjoy.
What makes each story in the series shit?
>playing pokemon games for the story

They're not really shit, they're generic and plain.
>hey trainer go challenge the gyms
>meanwhile team __ is up to no good
>stop them at certain points as they do bad things
>defeat the champion
>done

SM changed that
>>31381728
Yeah, you're right. Now it's
>hey trainer go challenge the trials
>meanwhile team __ is up to no good
>stop them at certain points as they do bad things
>become the champion
>done
>>31381881
moreover, there were gyms more trialsy than some trials
And I ain't talking about Mina
>>31382097
Yeah, but the stories all fundamentally follow the same sort of plot. They're all simple and mediocre, but not bad.
>>31382145
Indeed, though I'd say repepepepepepetitiveness is sign of poor writing, and poor writing is bad, isn't it?
>>31382175
Nah, it's just boring.
>the 'because it's for kids doesn't mean it should be crap' argument
Let me tell you something, anon: kids have different tastes than adults. Something that may seem bad to you, doesn't mean it seems bad to a kid. It's like comparing a bird's brain to a dolphin's brain

I want to lick her armpit
>>31381205
>not an excuse to make your story shit beyond belief
Same reason HL3 will never get made. There's no reason for them to change anything with the Pokemon games as long as they keep selling as well as they do. Why risk killing your multi billion dollar franchise by changing things?

>even though it targets the same demographic as Pokemon
Didn't digimon main target was teenagers, while pokemon was mostly childs?
>>31383640
Maybe now a days, but back in the hayday bandai definitely was pushing Digimon to be the edgier alternative to Pokemon.
>>31384302
So Digimon has always been targeted to teenagers, and as such they try to make more complex stories
