Considering final evos in general are on the rare side as well as how vulnerable ralts and kirlia are I'd be inclined to say the line has a tough time in the wild.

Hell one of the running themes of pokemon in general is that pokes need humans to realize their potential.

Generally when there is a low life expectancy it's because of childhood mortality, war or epidemics

Even in the Middle Ages it wasn't unusual to see an old person. The life expectancy was low because a shitload of kids died before the age of 5.

This is true too, but my point is still there too. Consider the amount of diseases one has to resist to come to old age. Hygiene and life conditions make us risk our lives less than if we were hunters and fruit collectors. You can accidentally pick up a poisonous fruit and you'd die anyways.

Returning to the topic, a Gardevoir whose trainer has passed out would be the saddest thing in the world.

It was some sort of school thing where the Ralts line helped out an outcast, which pokemon was that I remember, to become more confident and shit like that. I am not a smart man. Here's a story detailing why:

I had no idea how pokepuffs worked for a fair chunk of time in X/Y. I didn't know you had to hold them and let the pokemon eat them.

I spent twenty hours regularly pulling pokepuffs from my inventory, holding them in front of my Gardevoir and then dropping them on the ground, confused as to why she wouldn't eat them and why she looked so offended.

It took twenty hours for me to understand why she looked so offended about the whole thing. I am not a smart man.
