Main problem with Fairies is that it is too good of a defensive typing. Granted, it has two weaknesses...but it's in the form of two of the outright worst offensive types in the entire game, meaning that most Poison and Steel types simply aren't good enough to actually do much against most Fairies.

If they wanted to smooth this out even just a little, they would make Fairy weak against Fire, with justification being that its already NVE against Fire type mons anyway for some reason. If you're counterpoint to this is "Well too many Dragon Pokemon learn Fire moves and that would make Fairy types pointless since Fairy was introduced to counter Dragons in the first place", I say to that TOO FUCKING BAD BECAUSE ICE HAD TO DEAL WITH THAT SHIT FOR 20 FUCKING YEARS TOUGH SHIT

They didn't do what they were originally supposed to do, which was be an answer to dragon types. Instead, they hurt fighting and dark types way more than dragons. As the really common dragons like Garchomp and Salamence (both normal and mega) are fast enough and diverse enough to tackle fairy types head on.

It was the type- the fact that only Steel could resist dragon meant that you either have a Steel type to tank that incoming Outrage, or you lose. Of course, everything else you said also compounds this.

Fairies having a Dragon immunity was ok, but then making them super effective vs Dragon, Fighting and Dark, some of the most common attacking types, and then only being weak to Poison and Steel the two least common attacking types was way over the top.

Only thing that makes Fairies remotely balanced is the type being on shitty pokemon. The moment it's on good Pokemon... look at Xerneas and Tapus to see what happens.

They're just turbo assmad their edgy badass dragons like garchomp or hydreigon are getting rekt so they just say the new type is pure shit.

Psychic and Ice types got cucked by fairies, basically.

If anything, they're an answer to Outrage spam than shutting down dragons. It's impossible for most Dragons to have 100% counters when Gamefreak keeps making their movepools diverse as fuck. Compare this to Electric types, whos movepools are mostly so shitty they rely on Hidden Power to even touch Ground types. Dragons should learn nothing but their STAB moves and poor coverage like Bug for Fairies to even check them properly. Tapu Bulu would counter Garchomp 100% if the shark didn't have access to Fire,Poison,and Steel coverage.
