The mane on Entei's back resembles volcanic smoke as it flows in the wind. This also applies to Raikou and Suicune, except it's a thundercloud for the former and a northern aurora for the latter.

It's the most genius design element I've seen in Pokémon.

Moreover Entei has a perfect blend of some generally opposing traits, namely that it looks fierce and ferocious yet somehow noble and regal at the same time. I'm not sure how to describe it exactly, but it's somehow graceful and terrifying at the same time, and it blends in a very seamless manner.
