I seem to have 50/50 with putting up reasonable trades myself.

Put up Buzzwole for Pheromosa, got it within 10 minutes tops(I've been Pickup farming on and off).

Put up Kartana for Celesteela, no one has taken it yet. I've even taken it out and put a good item on it(Destiny Knot, I have 3 more of them). and it still hasn't been swiped yet(I need to check again before I leave).

Been struggling with the same shit too, here's what you can do.
1. Get a friend and make some trade evolutions, I've gotten a Latios for a Weavile that way, for example
2. Get shinies. These fuckers on GTS can give you anything for a shiny, even a shitty one, got 2 legends that way
3. Just hog the trades. People sometimes deposit their legends for easy to get stuff, you just need to be quick enough

You cash in for a Tapu/UB/Zygarde and then either trade those for another balltism mon, or the legendary that you actually want.

Well, first off there's the concept of using legendaries as a currency. The GTS is shit for trying to exchange for Pokemon beyond the few details that they let you filter for.
So you take something desirable, and you cash in for a legendary, which you can then exchange for another desirable pokemon.

To get into the market without having to give up your own Apricorn Balls or legendaries, get lucky with Wonder-trade because balltism breeding rejects aren't inherently valuable and people get rid of them on WT if GTS is being slow.

From there, just breed the one you get and trade those babies in for something reasonable by trade currency standards, I usually do Type:Null, maybe a Zygarde form, but some of the more common Ultra Beasts can work.

Once you have your foot in the door, you can worry about getting more balltism mons or legendaries that you actually want.

There's a market for Eevees, but I could never grasp if the demand would then influence people to breed more of them, and then the supply would be less scarce.

You should go with that anyway. Everyone has always wanted Eevees in special balls.

The only other things I can say is that version exclusives, island scan (preferably starters) will give you some leverage.
I started off with a Beast Ball Swinub, and had a good run with Level Ball Turtonator.

You -should- try to just post females to GTS to be polite, but it doesn't really matter.

It is also good taste to keep good egg moves and natures, though if you got a breedject off WT it might already have egg moves and that makes things easier.
