The contact damage from Iron Barbs and Rocky Helmet would be annoying as well

Well first of all Shuckle isn't as bulky as you think due to its shit HP. Ferrothorn has semi reliable recovery with leech seed, and a better ability for stall in iron barbs. Ferro is also pretty unique due to being a stallmon that has a decent amout of offensive presence, due to the usable attack stat and always max power gyro ball. Also Grass/Steel is a much better typing than Bug/Rock. Shuckle is a great sticky web setter, but that about all it can do.
