I am going to kill myself trying to catch these in x/y. Every guide on the internet, on leddit and youtube and fucking everywhere is god damned lying about them.

Nope, they get stuck or something and won't leave the route on the other side of Kalos no matter how many times I enter and exit a town.
"Once they're outside the town you're in, just walk onto the route and they'll be there!"
Nope, I have had it be directly outside the town I'm in, take two steps onto the route and have it flee. It's happened to me about five times now.
"Just soft-reset!"
Nope, doesn't help when they just run away even when right next to you.

NOPE FUCKING NONE OF IT WORKS
There is literally no way to catch these fucking things, because even when the stars align and jupiter is in the ascendant and it's actually finally right next to you, it still disappears even though it isn't supposed to.

OP, try to go to Lumiose city (that's the right name? Idk my game isn't in English) then go out to any route and get back to the city and check the map.
Repeat until the bird is on a route next to the city and go for it, it will run away. Fly again to the city, and repeat the process.
Yes, every fucking guide says what you posted and suddenly the fucking bird disappears. That's the method I found it works better.

Yes they disappear from the route sometimes it is fucking annoying, but you gotta keep doing and hope.

That's supposed to happen. When they go to the cave you can battle them.
