Nah, what you mean to say is Horsea is rounder. It's not a formless blob with random tentacles hanging off and fucking brickwork on its belly like Kingdra is. The pieces that go into its design have a purpose.

Similarly, Dragalge's "ugliness" is just conveying its venomousness. It doesn't have a hideous dildo snout, and its protrusions actually vaguely resemble seaweed, making it effective at the leafy sea dragon aesthetic Kingdra so utterly failed to portray.

If only Game Freak had the good sense to make Kingdra a side evolution, where it could be safely forgotten like pointless branch evos like Bellossom and Slowking instead of ruining a great line. Or better yet, just cut it entirely. It wasn't good enough for RBGY, GSC being rushed is no excuse to dig out literal garbage.

It switched around a lot, but for a long while it was Onix.

Even as a kid I always liked bulky Pokemon. Onix had the highest Defense in the game (besides Cloyster but I never knew that), so it must be the bulkiest Pokemon, right? Brock would always go on about his "ROCK HARD DEFENSE" and his Onix was a pain to take down, I wanted one for myself. (I had no idea what Special/Sp. Def was back then.)

Plus, Brock's Onix was like the coolest thing in the anime.
