It's gameplay has been considered overall better than Explorers of Sky, but it is lacking in the story section.
If you play Mystery Dungeon for story, play Gates to Infinity.
If you play Mystery Dungeon for gameplay, play Super.
If you want a solid Mystery Dungeon game, play Explorers of Sky.

The first 10-14 hours are slow as fuck and easily the worst part of any PMD game, after that it gets surprisingly good.

It's hard for me to rate personally because the first part and second part are like completely different games. The first part is linear as fuck and is completely missing several mainstay features, but then the game opens up and they all suddenly come rushing back at once with a bunch of new features alongside them in the second part, and the tone and pacing of the story completely change too.

After the first part I'd give it a solid 8 or 9 out of 10, but with that first part making you go through a lengthy boring slog, I think I'd say overall more like a 6.

It's the only worthwhile game to come out of Gen 6. I still like Explorers more among PMD games but this was a huge step in the right direction after Gates.
