A-Ninetails has been a good lead for me. I run a bulky, defensive set with Snow Warning. It can be frail, so using damage reducing berries might be a good idea. Or Light Clay if you're running Aurora Veil. Kangeskhan needs to able to mega evolve. Todadile is OK, but without sheer force it's not a great water type. Mimikyu seems will be good if you just give it swords dance and shadow claw.

Lum Berry or Weakness Policy on Barney

Interestng, I'll try it out. Kanga is definitely getting its mega-evo, and good point about Todadile, I'll switch in Mimikyu in its place and hopefully it works. Thanks anon

So I finally decided to take on the madness of Super Singles after training a Salamence, and I managed to earn my stamp on the first try!

Mimikyu [Mickey] @ Lum Berry
Adamant; 252ATK / 4DEF / 252 SPD
-Play Rough
-Shadow Claw
-Shadow Sneak
-Swords Dance

Salamence @ Salamencite
Jolly; 252ATK / 4DEF / 252 SPD
-Double-Edge
-Earthquake
-Dragon Dance
-Roost

Celesteela [Kaguya] @ Leftovers
Careful; 252HP / 4ATK / 252 SDF
-Protect
-Leech Seed
-Heavy Slam
-Flamethrower

I'm too stressed to go on though... still, I'm so happy because it's my first time I managed to clear a Battle Facility in all my years as a Trainer! I bet a lot more folks have felt or are about to be so. Remember this: if RNG hax happens here, it can also happen on the overworld. There's no hax, just variance.

Anyway, I'll write observations on the AI on another post. In the meantime, here's a fill of Super Singles Battle Videos to entertain the people here since I somehow see a lack of Battle Videos in these threads.

Legend fights
-Grimsley fight: GALG-WWWW-WWW4-C3A5
-First Cynthia fight: WCGW-WWWW-WWW4-C3YV
-Second Cynthia fight: NT8W-WWWW-WWW4-C3JB
-The Colress Command: AH5G-WWWW-WWW4-C3JG
-Washed-up Veteran Red: BZAG-WWWW-WWW4-C3KX

RNG variance fun
-Round 12, faulty Flamethrower and the RNG that was not: YWGW-WWWW-WWW4-C37P
-Round 25, Physical hurdle: LSKW-WWWW-WWW4-C453
-Roun 38, Shuckle activates Sword and Shield... forever: TRQW-WWWW-WWW4-C4F7
-First contact with legends, featuring the genie of the healthy meta:
DHXG-WWWW-WWW4-C4QU

Super Singles RNG and AI observations:
-I led with MegaMence on the first ten, but then swapped Mimikyu as the lead. Instead of seeing enemy Ice-type leads, I saw folks who made dumb set-ups or who thought they could avert the Lum Berry. Needless to say, it was worth it. Always lead with Mimikyu and forget about giving it anything that's not a Lum Berry.
-Also, I was about to be KO'd out of the Tree due to the biggest cheat. Here I thought any Fire attack was enough to be thawed out... boy, I was wrong. (Round 12)
-Grimsley > Cynthia > Cynthia > the Colress Command was what I got on my way to Red. Colress had the Explosion Metagross. You weren't kidding guys, it's hilariously stupid. Need a party that stands up to everything on the way to 50 and can make Colress appear? Here it is.
-Leftovers + Aqua Ring = Leech Seed = Endless recovery, endless stall. Beware.
-I didn't see many Ice leads. Instead, many of them were going all across the board, and every now and then would either be a Pokémon that Mimikyu wouldn't dent, a Pokémon with a move SE against it, a combination of both, or no counter lead at all. Maybe it's more different when M-Mence leads... but I'd rather stick with a Mimikyu lead if I'm going to 200.
-I was very lucky in a match, too. Was victim of DTeam bullshit, but thankfully was minor and hilarious (Round 38)
-Got my run-ins with celebrity streak enders Bette and Tamah at rounds 43 and 44. In less than 6 turns Mimikyu destroyed them both 3-1 and 3-0, respectively.
-I had to wait until round 47 for the legendaries to come out. Yay? This is were I got frozen a second time, but the RNG was somehow merciful. Fucking freeze, how does it work. Also, I got the best Black Belt. Hm!
-Number of Veterans encountered: 0
-Number of Scientists with Trick Room encountered: 3
-Number of Rotoms encountered: 2
-Number of matches with legendaries: 1

Good luck to everyone else and don't give up!
>>
>>31311075

Does it count if you play co-op because I'm planning on making a team and making my sister use half. We managed to get to 20 with my trained Tapu Koko and Mega Fug and she used her in game Raichu and a Mimikyu I gave her.
>>
>>31312822
>This video cannot be made public

Why?

Anyway, it was my Ribombee, Minior, and M-Scizor against Exeggutor, Rotom-Heat, and Magmortar. Exeggutor went down in one with Ribombee, I tried to switch in Minior to deal with Rotom but Thunderbolt was a OHKO. Brought Ribombee back in and thought I was making a miracle comeback because I got paralyzed while quiver dancing and managed to get off 3 moonblasts without getting stopped by paralysis once, thanks to focus sash and his overheat missing once. It had a sliver left when Ribombee went down and M-Scizor bullet punched it. Then Magmortar came out.

Magmortar is always was kills me. I hate this fat lipped fuck.

I don't know what to do for Super Multi Battles, I've tried the same team as Super Doubles and didn't work (of course, what was I thinking?). What do you guys think I should do? Should I look for an AI partner or should I use myself as a partner (I have two 3DSs systems)?

>>
>>31313048
You should scout Anabel and her Legendary dogs. If it isn't Raikou, Entie, or Suicune, you fucked up your Anabel and you need to rescout her again and again and again and again and again until you get them. Then you build around her team. If she has Raikou/Entie, use a team that has water or has some sort of levitate/flying user to scare away earthquake users, ie, Salamence @Megastone with hydropump. If she has Raikou/Suicune, bring something to take down Steel and Grass types, ie. Salamence @Megastone with flamethrower.

Do not use Cynthia. She will betray you.

The main thing is, you are the support. Your ally is the main character.
>>
AYAG-WWWW-WWW4-C7DF

Finally got my multi stamp. Red was a much better partner than I was expecting.
>>
>When your ally uses a move that hits everyone

I wish those Niggas from DPPT like Riley were here to assist
>>
>>31313056
I know, so I'm a little annoyed that it's always electric attacks being combined with fire-types that clinch it. When the last Magmortar got me it was because it had thunder punch for my Minior, and this time the Rotom got me. I've managed to avoid problems against Steel-types so far, even having luck getting Ribombee of all things to take care of Skarmory and Klinklang.

I was originally having tons of problems and wanted to figure out some way to change my team, but giving Ribombee a focus sash, changing one of its moves, and making it my lead was working wonderfully for a while and I got up to 35 this time. I might give it one more go before seeing if I should retool, I know I haven't even seen the worst of it yet.

Speed tiers for the Tree AI opponents can be found at http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/battle-tree-discussion-thread-leaderboard-eventually.3587215/page-26#post-7144365 - not automatic but you should be able to compare your speed numbers with them.

Note that sets 3 and 4 are most common after battle 40, so Aerodactyl-1 is not a relevant foe, for example.

Just beat Blue in Super Doubles:
PS7G-WWWW-WWWW-CDZ9

I can post my team if people are interested, but I'd imagine the monsters are pretty standard. I will say that I had almost zero trouble and only really struggled with a couple Veteran/Ace fights in the 40's. So that was awesome. Now I just have to get through Multis and I'm done.

Fuck Yeah! I'm going to tear them a new asshole. What do you guys suggest? Megamence and Megagross?
>>
>>31317979
You really don't need perfect IVs for Battle Tree. You can easily get by with good natures and EV training, and moderate knowledge of how to build a team (coverage, roles, etc.)

Also to acknowledge that you will get beaten by bullshit on multiple occasions, stuff like status conditions, critical hits and nonsensical team choices from the AI. You just gotta keep on truckin' until you get a result that you're happy with.

Porygon-Z - Modest @ Normalium Z
Hyper Beam- (It takes out any pokemon that doesnt use protect resists normal type attacks or has focus sash, should be used has a main )
ThunderBolt
Shadow Ball
Ice Beam

Metagross - Adamant @ Metagrossite
Hammer Arm
Zen Headbutt
Meteor Mash
Bullet Punch

Dragonite (Multiscale) - Adamant @ Lum Berry
Earthquake
Dragon Dance
Outrage
Fire Punch

i just got 57 win - streak today with this team. this team was taken from a youtuber you can check it out to see if you like it or not .
its also the first time i got over 50 wins
so its really good if u just want to get to a 50 win streak

You can get any pokemon in SM if you inject them.
1-20 isn't really hard, but a lot of the hard hitters will arrive at 40+. It's nice to be careful since death looms at any round like 7, 39 , 68 whatever.

Been running this on Doubles:

Marowak-Alola @ Thick Club
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Flame Charge
- Shadow Bone
- Bonemerang

Ninetales-Alola @ Light Clay
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Blizzard
- Moonblast
- Freeze-Dry
- Aurora Veil

Porygon-Z @ Normalium Z
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Blizzard
- Tri Attack
- Conversion

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Haze
- Toxic
- Recover

I was doing great but I lost at 36 streak due to a really bad decision the first turn, loosing both Ninetales and Marowak leads, then trying to recover from the fuckup I noticed that Toxapex was never useful. What mon do you recommend to replace it with? I have trouble with steel types and earthquakes mostly, some anon suggested Scizor but I'm not into that Poke too much.
>>
So how many mons do I need to beat to fully EV train without the power item? Also what Pokemon is best for each stat?
>>
>>31319631
>Marowak-Alola @ Thick Club
>EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Speed EVs on a pokemon with nonexistent base speed? Wouldn't HP just be better?
>>
>>31319704
I outspeed a whole lot of mons after a Flame Charge, this has been working for me a lot so far.
>>
>>31319667
>without the power item?
get the power items.

pokemon defeated gives 1 ev

without power item:
1 ev from pokemon. x2 multiplier if the pokemon was defeated during a s.o.s chain. x2 multiplier if the pokemon earning the values is infected with pokerus. for a maximum possibility of 4 evs for each pokemon. This means if you want to max a stat (252 evs) you need to knock out 63 pokemon

with power item
pokemon gives 1 ev. +8 evs if the pokemon earning the evs is holding a power item, x2 multiplier if the pokemon was defeated during a s.o.s chain. x2 multiplier if the pokemon earning the values is infected with pokerus. This method gives you 36 evs per pokemon which means you only need to knock out 7 pokemon to earn 252 evs in a stat.
>>
>>31319667
Use UBs and Tapus to get BPs and trade for those power items if you have shitmons, it's a torture doing it otherwise, even if you are watching Netflix in the meantime or doing something else. Pokerus + Power Item or nothing.
>>
>>31319704
you want to outspeed alolan muk, thats for sure
>>
>>31319667
why not just use the island? you start on wednesday and your mons are ready for the weekend.
>>
So, which trainers should I scout for multi battles? I heard a certain breeder is good but idk their name.

>>
>>31319667
Pokerus+power item=7 kills in a SOS chain for 1 stat

Primarina @ Wide Lens or Zoom Lens
In-game plathrough IVs, one of the four neutral natures.

Is that how Z-Conversion works? Your first attack is the type you convert to?

Also I've heard that when the AI undoubtedly starts to counterteam you, they'll start sending out a lot of Fighting or Ghost type leads to try to counter Porygon-Z. I've heard using Z-Conversion with Shadow Ball to become Ghost type is a good way to cheese wins because the AI won't know how to handle it.

I need a good non-mega physical attacker with decent priority. Can anyone recommend anything? This is for Super Doubles. My current team is M-Alakazam, A-Greninja, A-Marowak, and AV azumarill
>>
>>31322892
weavile gets fake out and is pretty strong, slap a sash on it and it's golden
>>
>>31322892
oh and golisopod
seriously golisopod is incredibly underrated, especially in battle tree. it's ability is generally a benefit rather than a hinderance
could probably fit it over azumarill
>>
>>31322858
The last one was so stacked against me, it was a trick room audino/chandelure last against my oranguru/alolan marowak lead. It kept making perfect reads to keep trick room down so I had to switch out marowak for bewear to absorb shadow ball and it unveils Z-fireblast audino to murder my bewear and a rhyperior finished my marowak and vikavolt.
Now that I've bred a drampa and trick room primarina I can finally get rid of that rock weakness, vikavolt used to be my only trick room special attacker
>>
>>31322892
Arcanine is pretty cool for intimidate in doubles. It gets E-Speed.

>>
>>31322979
But specs gives it a lot of power and volt switch sure is handy. Does get walled a lot by the tree's counter-team shenanigans however so it has to go. Now I can bring back alolan golem which I absolutely love.
>>
>>31322983
When you outspeed but can't kill the enemy, or when you can tank a hit and want to get something in totally fresh, or when you predict a switch to a non ground type (not that battletree trainers ever do that).
>>
>>31322983
when you wanna switch but also wanna attack
when you wanna get something that has difficulty ever switching in to deal some damage, assuming volt will KO
when your mon is slower and you wanna chip the opp a little before you switch to your other mon
when you have choice specs and don't wanna risk KOing a mon only to have the next thing be electric immune and body your mon
>>
So I just bred myself a wishiwashi for trick room super doubles, I gave it hydro pump, ice beam, protect, and endeavor (45 base HP). It gets no moves but that's what I came up with, what is really best?
>>
>>31322917
I'll try it out, is this moveset ok?
Ice Punch (100% acc)
Throat Chop
Fake Out
Brick Break

>>31322936
I tried Golisopod but most of the time I faced pokemon that resisted First Impression and would do >50% before it could attack. Thanks though

>>31322960
I'll try it out. Do you recommend any sets for it? I feel like a mixed set could work. Maybe with a Z-crystal?
>>
>>31323016
specs honestly isn't very helpful, you'd be better off with LO considering it's coverage options are surprisingly potent
drampa will just be outright better though, bulkier, great typing and thanks to it's ability can easily sweep in doubles
>>
>>31323065
i'd go for low kick or poison jab over brick break, fairies are never fun to fight so having a way to consistently beat them is likely more helpful
>>
>>31323076
How do you run that? Dragon pulse, protect, hyper voice, and a flavor move based on the rest of your team? It gets so many great TM moves.
>>
>>31323045
Inner focus/Telepathy Oranguru or Mimikyu can setup Trick Room
Wishiwashi can protect on that turn and then blow things up with its Water STAB. The rest is up to you, i recommend Ice Beam and HP Grass for certain Pokemon like Seismitoad/Gastrodon
>>
>>31314080
As i said it was normal singles, i just trained up the toucannon so i didnt really care about the rest of my team. Which is also why i didnt just switch out even though i could have prevented 10 turns of that stall shit.
>>
anyone have any good suggestion teams for doubles/multis that can get me my stamps? much appreciated!!!!
>>
>>31323125
pulse and voice are obvious, protect maybe less so since sometimes it'd be more beneficial to take the hit and activate your ability
flamethrower is a good safe bet since it'll take out steel types that'd want to wall, but since you have alolawak you could try covering for something that would definitely fuck your shit up otherwise
what that'd be i have no clue, you'd just need to find out what the tree fucks you over with (or almost does)
>>
>it's a roost/double team spamming zapdos episode again
>no guard
>tap stone edge

Fuck off evasion hax
>>
MPZW-WWWW-WWW4-D5PE

And with that, I'm done with Multis (thank fuck) and done with getting all three of my super stamps.

Is there a way to get the special trainer music unlocked for the tree or for online use (the BW E4 theme, or Cynthia's theme for example).
>>
>>31323201
Every item do you typically run? Life orb seems like an easy choice but with berserk needing its health low already it sounds dangerous.
>>
>>31323351
What item*
>>
>>31323351
that's the risk you take with LO really
what item is bewear and oranguru?
if neither are LO then it's actually a good choice for drampa, in fact LO could end up activating the ability for you in some cases without much worry
>>
>>31323271
>2 mega leads
>intimidate
>both dragon dance leads

Fuck I'd be scared to death of that.

Grats on finally being free from mulits hell and the tree in general....though doubles is fun
>>
>>31323380
I'd have been scared if it wasn't for Colress, dude was a champ the whole way through.

And I love doubles but Multi is just too much bullshit for me. I've seen enough quick claw Explosions.
>>
>>31323065
I personally have been using
Arcanine @ Mago Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 148 Def / 36 SpA / 12 SpD / 60 Spe
Bold Nature
- Flamethrower
- Will-O-Wisp
- Snarl/Helping Hand
- Protect/Morning Sun
Which is just the Smogon Battlespot bulky utility set. I imagine that changing the Sp.Atk EVs to Atk ones, the Nature to Impish and adjusting Flamethrower to Flare Blitz and either Will-o-Wisp or Helping Hand to E-Speed would work well enough. If you want full offensive you could replace something with Close Combat as well at which point I'd probably move some of the HP EVs to Speed.
>>
>>31323376
Bewear is typically life orb but occasionally I'll give it a Z crystal when I get fucked over by evasion too much. With drampa on my team I would probably drop bewear though, I don't need to double up on fighting and fairy weakness
>>
>>31323376
>could end up activating the ability for you in some cases

Indirect damage doesn't trigger Berserk.

t. 50 wins in super doubles with Drampa
>>
>>31323498
seriously? it triggers emergency exit, what makes berserk so special with it's activation?

>>31323476
with that in mind, as silly of an item as it may be, sitrus can be useful for drampa to abuse the ability. expert belt or another z crystal are also options, there would definitely be cases where one z move is worthless but the other is great
>>
>>31322616

My team consists of that gimmicky Sing/Wide Lens Primarina posted up thread a bit, it sounds awful but the increased Hydro Pump and Sing accuracy work wonders. It's from my in-game team, rolled a female neutral natured Popplio on my first try picking it as a starter so there is some Karenfaggotry at work here. EVs are obviously all over the place but with a definite trend toward SpA and GO.

Kommo-o, also from in-game play through but got lucky with whatever nature is +Att -SpD. Had an easier time EV training this as I caught it late game, max Attack, about 200 HP and the rest in Speed. Holds Fightium Z, Dragon Dance, Sky Uppercut, EQ, Outrage.

Then a pentaperfect M-Metagross with standard STABs, Burrito, Hammer Arm. I tend to agree with the general sentiment regarding Megagross and its 90% accurate moves. Seems like once in the Battle Tree they shave off like 10-20% accuracy. I'm talking successfully hitting only 50% of the time of the hax is really bad. Say I use any one of either Zen, Meteor, or Hammer Arm four times in a match, I'll hit 2 out of 4 at worst.

I got to Battle 37 or so with this team. I'm pretty confident if I bred a new Primarina and Kommo-o it could take me all the way to 50. Maybe even considering Specs or AV Primarina instead.

Simple strat: lead with Primarina, switch the Dragon into any Electric and Grass attacks, switch Metagross into Poison types or Grass types with annoying coverage (Play Rough Tsareena anyone?).

Sing is there for neutral matchup against specially bulky pokemon so you can hopefully switch in your AoA or DD sweeper for at least one free turn.

Jellicent is probably the single most threatening pokemon for this team to face.
>>
>>31323587
...Ok here's the thing. Relying on sing of all things to attempt a setup sweep is a terrible idea even with the accuracy boost. You want your attacks to be 100% accurate almost all the time anon. Outrage confusion can easily backfire horribly on you too.

In general your team is dangerously inaccurate.
>>
>>31323587
switch Hammer Arm with EQ. it still hits most steel types for SE damage and it also assures you you can hit something that resists BP 100% of the time

Boy do I know it. And like I said it's a combination of using two in-game mons. Now that I've farmed enough BP for AV and Specs I'll probably rebreed Primarina and Kommo-o, throw one of those 2 items on Primarina and leave Kommo-o as is except maybe swapping out Outrage for D Claw. I must admit though you kinda feel like a boss breaking 30 with 2 in-game mons.

>Meet a male tourist whose fiancee is gallivanting around without him

God damn, who at gamefreak has an NTR fetish?
>>
>>31326819
For the most part but the EVs are different, a little more defense and a little less special attack
>>
Almost lost to some fucking Hypnosis+Dream Eater Gardevoir because Carbink set up light screen
fuck light screen
>>
>>31326879
Literally same fucking set right after it. Atleast it missed the Hypnosis

Porygon z @ normalium z
Adaptability

Shadow ball
Thunderbolt
Ice beam
Conversion

A-Greninja @Nothing

Water shuriken
Scald
Ice beam
Acrobatics

M-Scizor @scizorite
Technician

X scissor
Iron smash
Double hit
Bullet punch

This got me to 13 on SS. I fucked up not paying attention to what I was doing a lost to a double team porygon2 that froze hacked my scizor.

Any recommendations for greninja here? He seems to kill thinks with acrobatics
>>
who are the common trick room abusers in the tree outside of dusknoir and bronzong?
>>
>>31327143
whats your scizor ev set up?
>>
Is Porygon with Z-conversion good even when he doesn't lead? Currently running Gengar as lead and he's doing fine

>>
>>31327423

>>
>>31327435

Can a Z-Move and Mega evolution be used during the same battle?
>>
>>31327566
Something with either a Z-Move that can OHKO Zapdos and other Double Team users or at least with no miss attacks.
>>
>>31327750
yep
>>
>>31327750
Yes.
>>
>>31327566
>>31327755

Consider something with No Guard for that or http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Keen_Eye_(Ability)
>>
What Pokemon are just taunt-bait generally?

low offense, high bulk like Cradily and Carbink?
>>
>>31327818
Any scientist since most of their mon have trickroom
>>
Z-Moves are Game freak's poor excuse to program a decent special fighting attack thats not focus blast.

Also, does a Xurkitree need to be timid or modest when partnered with Koko
>>
>>31327918
they actually stated that it's a better alternative to mega evolution, which I agree with
>>
>>31327918
Having two elecs like that seems risky. Timid would be better since the aim would be to play off the terrain for that dmg boost.
Also consider Bulu to basically give the tree no weakness.
>>
if my scizor is holding steelium z and uses bullet punch, its no longer a priority move>
>>
>>31328057
no shit if youre using the z-move
>>
>>31328057
Yes, the Z-Move on damaging attacks replaces the original move completely, retaining none of its effects and going at +0 priority.
>>
>>31328025
poison?
>>
>>31328094
You could have a Toxipex in the back or a steel type (but then double fire weakness)
>>
Should I use my 5 IV / "Fantastic" sp. attack Minior or my 5 IV / "Very good" defense one. I'm running a mixed set with power gem

As in deal with breeding for it or as in youre actually too retarded to either:
>fight pokemon with a specific typing
>if its "Effective", immediately run away or just kill it - you dont even need to use Eelektrik for this

>since Tynamo cannot learn HP, you can literally just
>ask

Wally, Cynthia, Colress

Mega Gallade with Garchomp or Magnezone for Wally

Mega Lucario with Garchomp for Cynthia

Mega Metagross with Porygon 2, Z, or Magnezone for Colress

That's the general consensus

Anabel has a Mega lucario/Latios and her beasts but she's rare as fuck to actually encounter

Recommend me a team for Doubles and Royal.
>>
>>31328717
Did anyone scout a trainer who used Shell Smash Kommo-o in Multis, before the update?

If so, did the Kommo-o's move change as a Multi partner after the update?
>>
>>31328543
if the pokemon can't learn hidden power she just says that they can't learn it and refuses to use her magic IV-checking power to determine it. example: use a magikarp.

Is Fini the best taunt user for the tree?

Just starting to find out how incredible shutting down stall pokemon are

I thought good taunt users were fast or pranksters
