I loved Misty. Can't say I still do, but I still like her second-most of all. May was overall just there, Dawn was great, Iris was shit and Serena was even shittier. Only Misty and Dawn had any chemistry with others in the group and felt like actual characters. I gave zero shits about the girls, but actually felt bad when Misty had to leave.

And while I don't get give two shits about who Ash fucks, he'll remain close to Misty simply because they live "nearby" and visit each other often. Unlike the rest of them, who went of to who knows where.

It's not like Ash would ditch her after the bike was repaired, if she wanted to keep travelling with him he wouldn't mind it happening. He obviously enjoyed her company even if they fought a lot, they were great friends.
She even traveled with him for a bit at the start of the Battle Frontier, and I'm pretty sure there was no bike involved in this.

A doujin series called Festival of Champions by Tonbo/Seijun. Combines elements from the anime and the games and imho is probably better than any official Gen I Pokemon manga out there. Red is basically just his Ash incarnation of the OS if he was allowed to mature without the reset button.

The main story is the Pokemon league competition with PWT elements thrown in, post Gen I-characters appear as competitors or spectators. Background chapters have really interest/emotional depictions of game events and headcanons.

Red and Misty don't fuck, but they might as well. The artist is a huge Mistyfag and HanadaShipper/PokeShipper and there are teases here and there.

It has several chapters and side-chapters so far, but it's still an on-going project. Seems like there's always guaranteed a new chapter whenever Comiket rolls around.

I actually found a translation for it on this Batoto (http://bato.to/comic/_/comics/pocket-monsters-festival-of-champions-doujinshi-r12187), but you have to make an account to view the full translation. It's only up to chapter 3.5 though.

Red has Pikachu, Lapras, Charizard, Snorlax, Butterfree, and Marowak (it dual wields its own bone and its mother's bone).

From the top of my head, Green has a Blastoise and a Arcanine. His used to have a Raticate, and he gave his Eevee to Blue(girl) which evolved into an Espeon. There's backstory behind that but I don't want to spoil.

I think the fact that Pokemon games have either Water type or water dwelling/associated Pokemon keeps Misty interesting even if she doesn't show up.

Imagine Misty with a Malamar or a Crawbrawler. Still suits her style since she's less of a Water trainer and more of an all-out offense trainer who happens to be associated with water/the sea.
