I watched the show growing up without knowing there were any games or cards or other merchandise at all, and before knowing about Pichu whatsoever, and I never drew any Pokémon-related stuff as a kid (as I didn't like drawing.) I always thought Pikachu had a black stripe on the end of its tail, and no brown at the base, and it took me until last year to learn that it didn't.

I don't believe the inane "dimensional melding" or whatever, but it is crazy to me that so many of us remember the black stripe.

Also worth noting, my sister believed that Pikachu didn't have black on its tail OR its ears... that's weird, too.
