Lost my streak at 117 yesterday. Double Team Zapdos fucked me up. It also procced Ancient Power right on the first hit, which certainly didn't help.

This is as far as I'll go. With shitty movesets like above, you're bound to run into an unlucky moment at some point.

mate, you don't need max IV pokemon for the tree at all. Get a jolly/adamant gible, ev train attack and speed, and slap earthquake and dragon claw on it. Rest is personal preference.

That alone will carry you through most of regular singles. Just back it up with something that resists ice or fairy, and switch it whenever something comes in that might be able to learn ice beam.

>>31265529
Timid
252 SpA, 252 Spd
Focus Sash

Shadow Ball
Sludge Bomb
Thunderbolt/Whatever
Destiny Bond

Scizor is a great second, but you need a Chomp check for Wally, as you're speed tied against his lead Mega Gallade and that means bad luck could end it there, where as good luck means you could kill it AND D Bond is Chomp second, but that's only if it's not scarfed

Mamoswine is a great revenge killer for your bases, and Hydreigon is a safe switch in against the tide of EQ
The original person I got it from used Dragonite; Milotic is also great for similar reasons
>>

I love the BS Tree and accuracy hax
>>
>>31265529
dug it up

Gengar @ Focus Sash
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs:252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252Spe
Timid Nature
-Shadow Ball
-Sludge Bomb
-Will-O-Wisp
-Destiny Bond

Dragonite @ Lum Berry
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Dragon Dance
-Outrage
-Fire Punch
-Earthquake

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
Evs 248 HP / 16 Atk / 60 Def / 124 SpD / 60 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Roost
-Swords Dance
-Bullet Punch
-X-Scissor

The idea was to abuse how good gengar is. He 1-2 shots 90% of the pokemon in the tree so the strategy revolves around gengar knocking the first pokemon out and then using destiny bond to take out a second pokemon leaving you with a 2v1. Destiny Bond worked well since the AI seems to always attack when gengar was at red health so destiny bond never missed. dragonite can cover gengar's ground weakness and scizor can cover anything that isnt a fire move (which dragonite covers). The Scizor spread was straight from Smogon and I ran x-scissor because no bug bite yet and I dont like u-turn in battle tree if im trying to set up swords dance. Scizor tanks a lot of shit and can set up quite easily. Gengar's biggest threat is Sand Stream Tyranitar, which scizor covers well. I chose to run earthquake over roost on Dragonite to hit the fire and rock types. You could probably trade out fire punch for roost.
>>

How i'm for super singles?
Mimikyu (F) @ Expert Belt
EVs: 252 Atk / 6 Def / 252 Spe
Ability: Disguise
Level: 72
Impish Nature
- Play Rough
- Will-O-Wisp
- Feint Attack
- Swords Dance

Celesteela @ Leftovers
IVs: 8 Def / 6 SpA / 16 Spe
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Ability: Beast Boost
Level: 71
Adamant Nature
- Autotomize
- Fire Blast
- Heavy Slam
- Earthquake

Tapu Lele @ Twisted Spoon
IVs: 26 HP / 14 Atk / 20 Def
EVs: 252 SpA / 6 SpD / 252 Spe
Ability: Psychic Surge
Level: 72
Modest Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Moonblast

I won normal singles with them but i guess im going to need a mega for super, thinking on swaping mimikyu for Mgarchomp or Mscizor

Also, how is toxpaex for doubles?. Im think in pairing him with nihilego for poison bullshit and other two mons. Maybe blissey and someone else

You have to have at least one Pokemon up at the end of the battle to win in the Battle Tree, even if you KO'd everything.

Adamant usually, are you Shell smash or something? Running Hydro pump, use Naughty.
>>
>>31266967

>>
>>31267001
I've only used Shell Smash in Randos. You could run Rapid Spin though.
>>
>>31265011
Explosion Swords Dance Silvaly carried me through the master level, but after a few battles the AI doesn't let that shit fly anymore
>>
>>31267038
this, just put a strong explosion mon to lead and hope to blow 2~3 shitters turn 2, then just stall with toxapex or aegislash for the rest of the match. something with strong priority also helps, golisopod did good for me.
>>
Can someone post the bulky Primarina set that people were using a few days ago?
>>
>>31267285

Primarina @ Assault Vest
Bold/Calm
252 HP, 128/128 Def/SpA -or- 252 SpA 4 Def

Scald
Moon Blast
Energy Ball
Psychic/Ice Beam
>>
Mega-garcomp or scarf?
Im already using lifeorb on mimikyu
>>
>>31267285
is there any reason to honestly run primarina instead of tapu fini?
>>
>>31267001
I usually run mixed Cloyster with Shell Smash and Focus Sash. Hydro Pump is good for catching physically bulky Steel types like Skarmory or Metagross off guard.

Cloyster @ Focus Sash
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 168 SpA / 88 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Shell Smash
- Icicle Spear
- Rock Blast
- Hydro Pump

Don't keep it out against and special attackers or anything with priority. He has enough physical bulk (180 DEF) to tank pretty much anything pre-smash and can take some surprisingly hard hits post-smash, but will die to Pichu's Thundershock.
>>
>>31267412
higher special attack, not having fini available
>>
>>31267412
>>31267457
also tapu fini can't learn psychic or energy ball
>>
>>31267440
what does 88 speed achieve?
how does the sash fares against white herb?
>>
>>31267479
in some instances where you're forced to field cloyster vs a special attacker, focus sash ensures, in most cases, one shell smash before you need to start attacking
>>
>>31267374
Thanks.

I made a calm one before with all EV into HP and SpDef. It was like a Chansey Seal.

Mimikyu @ Lum Berry
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough
- Shadow Sneak
- Leech Life

Pheromosa @ Focus Sash
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Bug Buzz
- Quiver Dance
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam

Buzzwole @ Assault Vest
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Brick Break
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Leech Life

No, it's not much of an evasion boost but you'll see it a ton. In doubles it'll be on pretty much every team and singles you'll rarely go two matches without seeing it. Frisk helps a lot for identifying but it really just makes you mad to find out how common it is.

Here's my super singles team.

Salamence (M) @ Salamencite
EVs: 252 HP / 60 Atk / 196 SpD
Ability: Moxie
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
- Roost
- Return

Tapu Bulu @ Expert Belt
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Ability: Grassy Surge
Adamant Nature
- Horn Leech
- Megahorn
- Superpower
- Stone Edge

Arcanine (M) @ Life Orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 6 Def / 252 Spe
Ability: Intimidate
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Extreme Speed
- Wild Charge
- Close Combat

Salamence-M lead, baiting out ice, electric, dragon and rock types. If it can take a hit or two, it dances up then sweeps. If it can't, I swap to Bulu for electric, dragon and rock, or Arcanine for ice.

One issue is dragon types with poison attacks, or ice/ground types that can get around Arcanine.

Thoughts? I've experimented with an Incineroar in the third slot, but the fighting weakness, low speed, lack of priority and inaccessibility of HA really hurt it.

Got to 46 wins in Super Doubles with this team before I misplayed against a Mega-Metagross. Thank you to the anon who gave me the idea of Porygon-Z and Ninetales lead.

Porygon-Z @ Normalium Z
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 SpA 252 Spe 4 HP
Modest Nature
-Blizzard
-Hyper Beam
-Thunderbolt
-Conversion

Alolan Ninetales @ Light Clay
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 SpA 252 Spe 4 HP
Timid Nature
-Aurora Veil
-Freeze-Dry
-Moonblast
-Blizzard

Salamence @ Salamencite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk 252 Spe 4 Def
Jolly Nature
-Roost
-Earthquake
-Dragon Dance
-Double-Edge

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP 252 Def 4 SpD
Bold Nature
-Toxic
-Haze
-Scald
-Recover

In hindsight, I would have made a few changes to the team.

-Moonblast could be replaced with Protect on Ninetales
-Possible Focus Sash on Ninetales, but Light Clay is also useful
-Adament Mence would have been helpful in some matches and the extra speed usually doesn't matter
-Haze wasn't that useful in Doubles and could be replaced on Toxapex with Protect

Overall I like the team and will try to level back up to 50 with it. The tree does loves to counter team this team with tons of Fire users and Mega-Metagross even though I only have one Ice type. I'll have to consider changes based upon that.

>>
>>31275416

59 is the maximum I will level to and then I just use Rare Kitchens. It means I have to wait days before a mon is viable but grinding the E4 is silly when you can grind the Plaza for the same time and get more instant returns.

Best way to E4 is to have your desired mon, one level 100 mon who can take hits and one-shot their mons, and four filler mons to take their hits when you switch. Turn Exp Share off and Switch mode on. If the Level 100 mon has a multi-hit move it also makes things faster otherwise you get the annoying Sturdy-Full Restore bullshit which wastes time.

Most people say you need Rare Kitchen 5* but keep in mind you can still get Rare Kitchen 4* for much cheaper, and they have the option that gives you 7 Levels for 100 FC which is the best value. Those won't help you get to Level 100 since only 5*s provide that, but it still saves time.

The one thing Sunfags have going for them is they can savescum for Rare Kitchen 5*, so they can quite reasonably fill their Plaza with Rare Kitchens - meanwhile those with Moon can only get 5* by buying them which means it's 4500 FC just for two kitchens (but at least you can get 4* for free).
>>

I want a more efficient way of earning Festival Coins!
Okay fine, here's a neat little trick that might come in handy, though it's not always practical. While on local communication, go around the plaza talking to people with a red speech bubble. If you find a group of coin givers close together and/or who give a particularly high number of FC:

1. Get their points.
2. Attempt to connect to the Internet, saving in the process.
3. Reset the game and re-enter the Festival Plaza

Because you saved, you will have the FC you gained, but everyone you missed will be available to talk to again. If you have the Festival Plaza buff from a Fortune Teller to go with this and/or have a couple people asking for references that you have easy candidates for, this can be a far more efficient method of FC gain than doing Missions. Note that if it's your first time connecting online in a while, when you reset, the Guests will be different and you will no longer be able to answer the questions of your old Guests - however, your VIPs will still be available.
>>
I got to Red with Mega Salamence, Garchomp, and Tapu Lele but because I'm fucking retarded I stupidly decided to switch to a team of all electric types because my logic was that 3 out of 5 of his Pokemon are weak to it. Needless to say, Snorlax fucked me up.

When I lead with Kartana/Koko they kept throwing Kiawe every 10 matches.

>and of course it's scarfed so it counters me 100%.
Except it's not scarfed. Kaula's Ursaring runs toxic orb and quick feet so whether or not you got the burn it wouldn't have mattered.

You have all the resources in the OP of this thread to know what your opponent's team is likely to be and even run damage calcs if you need to so you should very rarely ever be in doubt when you make plays.

>252 SpA Choice Specs Tapu Lele Psychic vs. 168 HP / 168 SpD Ampharos: 160-189 (86 - 101.6%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO
>252 SpA Choice Specs Tapu Lele Psyshock vs. 168 HP / 0- Def Ampharos: 198-234 (106.4 - 125.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
You could've oneshot Ampharos with psyshock or if you run psychic instead you could 2HKO and even afford to get parahaxed once as nothing that ampharos has would've 2HKO'd you. Also, you should never use non-STAB as Mega Lucario unless it's for a x4 weakness. Adaptability CC is 240 base power whilst EQ would've only been 200 and had a very small chance of OHKO'ing even if Amp didn't have the ground berry.

Basically what I'm saying is the Tree is much easier if you just do a little bit of research on your opponents.

You know the game's code is fully uncovered, right? There is NO algorithm whatsoever for counterpicks. Never has been.

I have a question about competitive pokemon, but I'm asking for the purposes of the battle tree so I'll post it here.

So I'm running Lycanroc night in the battle tree and he's doing pretty alright as a damage dealer. Currently I'm running
-Stone Edge
-Sucker Punch
-Fire Fang
-Reversal
with a Life Orb.

Anyways, my question is about his moveset. I thought Fire Fang would be good for coverage since Fire is such a strong attacking type, but since STAB Stone Edge has a BP of 150, even a super effective Fire Fang is still weaker by 20 BP. I almost never use it. It's only useful for pokemon 4x weak to fire like Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Abomasnow. Should I just get rid of Fire Fang?

Sucker Punch is also a lot weaker than Stone Edge and has mediocre coverage, but its priority comes in handy. I still have no idea if Reversal is worth it or not. By the very nature of the move, its kind of hit and miss.

Do you guys think
-Stone Edge
-Sucker Punch
-Taunt
-Rock Polish

would be better?
>>
>>31278522
it does. there's a reason why you see the same pokemon used over and over against a certain team, and then you go up against pokemon youve never seen before when you decide to pick a new team.

I'm also starting to believe it reads moves.I used the gengar/m-scizor/dragonite combo. The first pokemon used dark pulse on my gengar and i used sludge bomb to bring it down to 1 hp. next turn i switch to scizor to just clean up and save my destiny bond since the pokemon was faster than gengar. the turn I switch from gengar to scizor the AI used fire blast over just using dark pulse again. Battle tree is some shady shit. My highest is 83 wins in singles but im moving onto doubles now
>>
>>31278638
I lead with Oranguru/Drampa and I also got Kiawe every ten matches. Not exactly a counterpick.

It's coincidence. This isn't coded into the game in any form.
>>
>>31278522
I have 50 in both too. It definitely counter-teams you typing wise but the movesets don't always reflect it.
>>
>>31278681
>you see the same pokemon used over and over against a certain team, and then you go up against pokemon youve never seen before when you decide to pick a new team.

Except that doesn't fucking happen, you're only remembering the hard matchups rather than the ones where the AI acts retarded/gets swept. It's chance.
>>
>>31278542
I used protect in case I wanted to go right for a Scald to try and burn instead of poison, but BB is probably a good idea.

Just feeling discouraged because I've never been that hard-countered before. My team was weak defensively, so I threw in Toxapex. It worked great for the first 5 battles, but then I get motherfucking Scarfed Guts Facade Ursaring, a Pokemon I've never seen before that JUST SO HAPPENS to counter me 300%.

See, that's the problem with this shit. You can't adapt, because every time you do, the game adapts harder. The Tree would still be a challenge without team counters, there's no need for this shit.

You're completely right. I didn't even think about just CC'ing the Ampharos. I'm just salty at how ridiculously the game hand-picked counters for me.

I was actually gonna use Serebii to check the Pokemon, but I forgot the trainer's name and Serebii lists each trainer separately so I couldn't CTRL+F.

I was almost thinking about just never playing again, but you gave me some hope that I could have played around that.

Also, my Lel has Psyshock AND Psychic, which is probably retarded but I couldn't think of another move for a Specs Lel. Energy Ball? I have Tbolt and Moonblast and my HP is something garbage. Also, should I stick with the Specs or go Life Orb?
>>
>>31278811

Yeah, singles.

Actually come to think of it, I might use
-Stone Edge
-Sucker Punch
-Counter

Instead. Counter will allow me to kill Steel and Ground types most of the time since they are physical attackers, I'd just have to switch from a Life Orb to a Focus Sash.

I just have to think of if I want Taunt or Rock Polish.. Rock Polish on a Lycanrock could lead to an easy sweep.

Yeah, mine is Adamant.

I actually wanted my Lycanroc to be bulkyish like his god damn description implies, so I put 108 EVs in HP and 100 EVs in both defenses. It may not be absolutely optimal to competitivefags but, it does make a decent amount of difference.

Also, I like to imagine after he uses rock polish and his feet are all smooth and shit he gets much faster because he can skate around on the ground like Shadow the hedgehog. It's retarded, but the idea of Rock Polish as a move is retarded anyways.

Switch out mence for primarina in case of ice beams
Bring in the dog to revenge kill any ice/flying/fire types or in general if either koko or salamence faints, remove sashes, and the occasional flinch hax of rock slide. Also the nice bonus of bypassing all evasion hacks thanks to no guard.

Whether you run Specs or Scarf on Lele is more based on whatever helps your team more I guess. I've never used Lele myself in the Tree but I'd suggest not using it as a lead or pairing her with Lucario. With Lele as a lead you're going to be forced to switch out a lot against things like Sashes or bulky steel types that can take a hit and KO lele back. Having something as frail as Lucario as one of your options in the case where you have to switch out is never good. Psychic terrain might also fuck you over at some point if you really need to Bullet Punch.

Also you need something to cover Scarfchomp because if Lele takes a hit and your opponent has scarfchomp in the back then you're actually fucked.
>>
>>31279249

You know, I'm pretty sure most of the reason people hate furries is because of non furries being associated with him.
