The trick is to use Substitute or tank a hit in order to get your health low enough for Starf Berry to activate. Then pray to RNGesus that you get good buffs. Protect is your friend.

It's like Citizen Snips, but harder to pull off, but even more hilarious if you do.

Of course it's not better. It's objectively worse, and only works both when the opponent can't break your sub AND is too dumb to switch. But the memes are supreme.
