i honestly like those little compititions more than Smogon OU or the regular VGC17

Never played competitive before but I'm interested in joining - how does one build a good team?

put some of your pokemon together and battle a few times (showdown usually has those rulesets a few days before the actual competition) to find out what works and what your weaknesses are (for example if you cant beat a specific Pokemon)
