I'm playing it again right now and honestly I don't feel it's hard. I think DP were harder, and in my first playthrough of BW, Ghetsis beat me twice, but I was a kid back then.

No pokemon game is "hard" anon. The difficulty is catching the right pokemon.

the only thing they can do to increase the difficulty of the games is improve the AI so it uses setup moves and switches out pokemon. The battle with Kukui had this with him using Lycanroc to set up sneaky pebbles and occasionally switching out pokemon.

Opee, Platinum is not exactly a difficult game. Good movesets and good Pokemon do not necessarily increase difficulty, as we've observed with B2/W2. Rather, Gamefreak needs to improve AI - however, it's all too easy for them to have Shift mode as default and make most of the in game trainers make braindead decisions, then slap on unfair AI on whatever postgame facility they introduce.

Quite frankly, it's sickening, and it seems to insult the intelligence of the children who play the games. But yes, I do suppose we haven't got a more difficult game since.

I last played Platinum a LONG time ago so obviously I don't remember how easy or hard it was but... I was a lot worse at videogames back then and I still beat it

Sun and Moon feels a lot harder but again I've played it very recently

Beat Cynthia on one try. And it was the first time I battled her. The insect guy took me few revives but that's all.
