Dream World and Dream Radar were pretty reliable options. In general hidden abilities should be linked to cross compatible games, don't forget these abilities are ultimately a bonus, even if some can make or break a mon's viability.

Really, I don't even understand why you wouldn't. You can't even get to where you buy them until post game and if everyone can do it everyone has access to hidden abilities with a fair enough skill level and that makes EVERYTHING fair

Now it's almost a fucking slog of a lottery to make it happen instead of "I earned the reward of making my old pokemon new again with its new ability"
