I tried making it as large and non linear as possible :^)

Why do those two massive sea routes go so far out into the ocean for practically nothing?
>>
>>31203323

It's not done yet.

Notice the other half of the image missing routes?
>>
>>31203292
Needs more water.

Is this the Sweden-Finland-Estonia region from a week or two ago?

It's composed of California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Canada
>>
>>31203332
Yeah, but they're not missing landmasses. There's literally nothing in those top ocean routes. At least the bottom one has a wee island at the end.
>>
>>31203491
Oh that area is for underwater ruins (the green dots indicate special locations)
>>
>>31203292
How about quality over quantity instead, OP?

If you want extreme open world, play pixelmon
>>
>>31203527
I know you're joking, but the post game is actually the second region.

This map is one super region, made up of four smaller regions and a collection of islands. You start in the South/East half, which is inspired by California, then the second region is Oregon/Washington
>>

Stop

It's not open world. It's just a big region with a lot of routes and areas.

Looks like a fucking mess.

Sinnohfags will love it.

But anyhow are you just mapping or you got a romhack in your hands?

It mie b cool with the right Pokemon distribution

I just like making maps, I don't hack. Sorry :/

It seems OK at the moment honestly.

i am making a list of all locations, gyms, amd a fakedex for it too

pretty nice, anon. I love looking at shit like this for some reason.

I like it. Wish there was a way to see the routes that go through the mountains. What did you use to make the map?

and heres the names
Nureka is the 1st region
>>
>>31206668
I like it. Arkadia might be a little too on the nose, and having "nu" on your first region might be a bit much.
>>
>>31206474
>>31206668
I like it but I don't think this is programmable
>>
>>31206668
What kind of pokemon are you planning on putting in the regions? New ones? one gen for every region? Mixture of different gens?
>>
>>31206695
I put Nu because Nureka uses California as its base, so I took Eureka and change the E to an N

>>31206714
im not making a game so good news for me

>>31206717
Nureka and Arkadia have their own regional dexes of completely new Pokemon, but only Nureka has starters

Amberk Territory has mostly Johto and Sinnoh mons with a mixture of some Arkadia mons for its Regional Dex

Ketaray has its own Regional Dex consisting of 40 mons, mostly aquatic, called the Ketaray Biological Index, with a few Alola and Hoenn mons too, totaling at 60 mons

Area 25.5 has no Regional Dex Pokemon and is a hub for battle facilities, tournaments, and stadiums. The only Pokemon that can be found are Legendaries in the caves
>>
>>31206799
I understand why you called Nureka what you did, I'm just saying it feels a bit much.

I like your breakdown of the different regions. Ketaray seems particularly interesting with it's biological theme. Area 25.5 seems way too big for just battling and legendaries. You could probably put most of that on the island to the east.
>>
>>31206912
Area 25.5 has one PWT, one Battle Frontier, Two Stadium Cities, 7 Battle Towers, and the rest is special locations and normal towns

But yeah I agree it's a bit much. I might consider giving it a regional dex.

As for Nureka, yeah its corny but I like it and I cant come up with someone else that rings and also plays on eureka.

These are the Nureka starter's concepts. Feedback/suggestions welcome
>>
>>31206799
As someone familiar with California, I'm interested in the breakdown of Nureka. I see the Bay Area clearly, and there's obviously some stuff inspired by Lake Tahoe, Sierra Nevadas, Death Valley, and other stuff. Southern Cali seems really underrepresented, though--why not put in a mega city down there like you have in Area 25.5? The sprawling LA thing could be interesting
Also, is the very bottom bit San Diego, the Inland Empire, Mexico, or something more loosely interpreted?
>>
>>31203292
If it had some nice detail to it and wasn't gamefreak-tier monotonous, sure, but otherwise it's a little big.

I'm down for a real Pokemon RPG though, so keep at it.
>>
>>31206987

>Antoy
Ant with camo pattern. Simple.
>Armiant
bigger Antoy with army helmet grown from its exoskeleton and treads like a tank for legs.
>Exterminant
bigger Armiant with a canon similar to Blastoise grown from its chest. muscular like buzzwole.

>Snable
Snake with a little electrical plug at the end and electrical prongs for fangs
>Fangle
Two Snables tangled up with each other, one Orange/Yellow, the other Blue/Purple
>Hydrasma
Three big electric sneks that are tangled up in a ball of cables as their base. The main head is one big electrical plug with snake eyes.

>Gnawsfer
little bat with water drop wings. it sucks water from water-type pokemon instead of blood.
>Vampour
bigger bat with bubble around head, more humanoid
>Dripula
kind of explains itself. Dracula with water motifs. Has scuba diving gear made of bubbles tho

>>31207030
LA is the second big city near the bottom of the coast. I've reserved the super-city size tile for the BF/PWT in Area 25.5. And yes Nureka bleeds into Nevada and Mexico.
>>
>>31206987
>>31207128
I get that we need the snake for the whole Chinese zodiac, but do we really need another bat Pokemon? I also don't find ants super interesting, and Exterminant sounds a bit like Genesect, but that's just a matter of taste. I know Pokemon has a history of doing different kinds of Pokemon based on the same animal, but it would be nice to see something a bit more off the beaten path.
>>
>>31207174
I figured Gnawsfer would be different enough because design-wise, I imagine it having wings sprout from its head instead of its arms, and it would eventually become the humanoid starter of the Gen, being a vampire moreso than a bat. In fact its more similar to a gremlin than a bat in a way.

Exterminant is like a Centaur: a muscular Ant dude with a canon in his chest and a tank for a body. Not too much like Genesect.

I'm down to hear any other concepts for animals to use though.

>>31207128
Alright, makes sense about Nureka geography. Is there a bit inspired by Yosemite? Also, how do the warps/mazes on the map work over by Death Valley? Like where the road disappears into the mountains
>>
>>31207222
>Is there a bit inspired by Yosemite?
Yes. I plan on using every bit of California landmarks to inspire locations. I'll eventually label the map so everything can be identified.

I'm from San Francisco btw.

The route on the far right side in the mountains itself is the league. The routes (green paths) leading into the green dots that border the mountain walls are entry points to cave systems.
>>
>>31207064
I'd think an area this humongous would need either a ridiculously slow level curve or a Glazed-like leaving your team behind at first when starting a new region
>>
>>31207259
By the end of the Nureka league, you'll be around Level 60-70. Most of Arkadia is Gym Battles up and through to Level 100.

The rest of the game is just straight competitive battles with NPCs, except Ketaray, which is kind of like a wildlife/biological preserve.
>>
>>31207258
Ayyy kinda got a feeling on the San Francisco thing, the map's centered around it; from there too originally
Nice, the cave systems thing is an interesting idea
>>
Honestly it looks a mess but I'll give some constructive criticism

you need to simplify the amount of map lines you're using it's so confusing to the eyes and looks like a motherboard.

the geography of the landmasses don't look appealling either but that's just my opinion
>>
>>31207213
For the water type, since you do start in not-California, I think it would be interesting to have either an Orca or dolphin-based pokemon, as a seal-themed water starter already exists. You could also have a hummingbird pokemon, but we did just have a Grass-flying starter.
>>
>>31207417
like this, it's all of Hokkaido, Japan as a map but it looks sleek and straight forward
>>
>>31207515
I wanted to do something different in terms of Region proportions.

Yes I could've made the routes more or less straight lines, but for the purpose of this map, I wanted to show the exact paths they take you. Straight lines, while possible, don't serve the purpose of this map. It's not a Town Map.
>>
>>31203292
Its so big that you're better off completely ridding of routes and make it a true open world. It's just confusing with that maze of routes

>>
>>31206668
Nureka aye? Thats a fakemon name newfag. While im at it, I'll educate you on something vital in region mapping. If you have a route over 8 times longer than it is long, you've fucked up.
>>
>>31210363
>If you have a route over 8 times longer than it is long, you've fucked up.
What does that even mean?
>>
>>31210386
1. Your routes are zigzagging like nuts. That simply isn't how routes work in pokemon. They're all stright or have 1 curve in then.

2. They're all relatively short. The longest route in a gf game is beside that mansion in dpp. Compare that with the length od your routes.
>>
>>31210416
Extra long routes always have some sort of Healing NPC half way through them.

>Old couple between Floroma & Eterna
>Old lady between Fallarbor & Mawuville
>Lodge between Eterna & Snowpoint
>Maids between Hearthome & Pastoria
>Comfy bed (with a pokedoll) between Veilstone & Cyrus

Unless you plan on having a billion of those, you need to shorten your routes and think more about the scale of your region. also OP, if you connect all those islands to the mainland with routes it'll look like shit
>>
>>31203292
Honestly pretty bad. The first region alone is the size of 4 Sinnohs, but it has a normal amount of towns, meaning that nearly every route would be absolute hell due to lack of places to heal. Also way too many zig-zagging routes, there's no way any player would be able to memorize the layout. Oh, and that huge patch of water could probably have an entire region stuffed into it.

It'd make for a challenging game, but it's as uncomfy as uncomfy can be.
>>
>>31203292

but have you also tried to make it unique and interesting?
