I know about Raijin and Fuujin through Wind Waker, not bulbapedia of all things. Their resemblance to genies is only a vague superficial similarity that's ubiquitous thanks to Disney. Thundurus and Tornadus have no connection to djinns or genies. They have no connection to fire or wishes. They fight with each other just like Fuujin and Raijin. They're green- and blue-skinned like one of the most well-known depictions of Fuujin and Raijin, and are oni in other depictions. They're wind and thunder, and the loop behind Thundurus's back is Raijin's drumset. You show this to a Japanese kid and they'll think yep, Fuujin and Raijin, not djinns. I'm all for Pokemon being based on more than one thing, but Thundurus and Tornadus are Pokemon Raijin and Fuujin.
