I started with Gen 1, this is how I rank the series after playing through them all. The main games have been on a serious decline since Gen 4. Gen 5 jumped up a little with BW2, but ever since it's just been a sheer drop. It just seems like they've stopped caring and are just doing whatever they want because they know they'll get away with it. It's pretty fucking bullshit if you ask me.

Gen 7 has a lot of silly problems and a noticably smaller amount of space and content in comparison to other generations. I enjoy the atmosphere of the islands and the characters who aren't Lillie but it feels to me like it was very rushed in order to release for the 20th anniversary/Christmas. Maybe it'll jump up if they do a third version or a sequel, but as of the moment it ranks pretty low.

How were Platinum and HGSS bad? I loved playing those games, still play them occasionally. They had a large region, a good story, and a huge amount of post-League content. No generation since has matched the amount of content in those games, and postgame since Gen 5 has been a joke.

Platinum had a lot of the same flaws as DP but now with one and done gimmicks like the Distortion World and a severely downgraded Battle Frontier.
Not to mention "saving a lot of data" was even longer in Platinum.

Same anon. Each gen carries its own special memories along with it. Like Gen 3 being the gen my best friend moved away, Gen 4 being the gen I lost my card due to a shared interest in pokemon and gen 5 being the gen I got to introduce my younger brother to pokemon. Basically every gen has a good memory (or at least bittersweet) attached to it.

Not the same anon but Ball Capsules. What do other gens have anyways? Hoenn did have secret bases but then the Underground took that so it's not Hoenn exclusive anymore. Gen 5 has hidden abilities but that has also become a staple.
