I haven't played SuMo yet, but I really like Prism. The lack of hand-holding is really nice. Size of the game provides for enough stuff to do to make it last. The pokedex is a good size and doesn't include purely good Pokémon. Sure there are several buggy parts, but almost none of them ruin the game experience. I definitely like it more than gen 2 games, and probably more than most main series games

Almost every other bug is solved by playing the game on a fucking emulator, which you should be doing instead of hardware because playing this game on hardware would be the most tedious fucking thing in the world. While prism is a good tour de force of tech, most of that is piggy backed off of the crystal disassembly project and it's branches like anniversary and polished crystal.

The "plot" drops off the face of the earth and seemingly changes near the end of the first region without much rhyme or reason to. The biggest theme in the game thus gets no resolution of any kind.

There are still gamebreaking bugs that aren't that hard to access like teleporting into the poke forrest section of the woods, the sequence break, and some people are still having issues in phlox lab even on .92.

Some of it's own "features" end up being fools errands like mining. Without save states, mining costs way too much and rewards far too little. That third bingo card, can't even complete, and doing it legit could potentially take weeks of visiting trees and and leveling up your skills. Again, for no real reward.

There's also no good spot post game to level up. With the highest level of wild pokes only going to early 40's however most of the routes have pokemon sub 30.

Day gets stuck if you do not play during midnight. You can't challenge tycoon's because they only show up on certain days or boost your crafting by collecting apricots. Sylveon has a unique evolution method within the game. No other Pokémon uses it in the game, it's only used to evolve Sylveon, so what's wrong with naming the pointer "EVOLVE_SYLVEON" in the game's code?


The many bugs in Prism's leaked build do hurt the game in my opinion, and I feel it's a real shame that the C&D prevents them from getting fixed outside unofficial fan patches. Even in its state on 12/21 without any fixes for the patches, and me needing to debug my way around a couple game-breaking bugs, I had way more fun than SM. Prism has old-school region design and old-school narrative design, and lacks all the bullshit that I hate about Gen 6 and 7 and to a lesser extent Gen 5, while still having a lot of the gameplay improvements like the phys/spec split and abilities. It even gave me the nostalgia of revisiting the region from the first Pokémon hack I ever played after you beat the E4 and get the Rijon Pass. If it had the polish it deserves but can never receive due to C&D, it would be without a doubt the most well-made ROMhack we've ever gotten for a Pokémon game.

There is nothing wrong with "EVOLVE_SYLVEON" It's "EVOLVE_SYLVEON ; lol" that in the game source. Semicolon is used add comments to the code.
