Pretty sure a lot of people used Clauncher/Clawitzer last gen because they have a pretty cool concept. Their ability is pretty cool, too.

I used Clawitzer and Kingler on my first X and Silver runs respectively. I used Crawdaunt in an Alpha Sapphire Nuzlocke (dupes scumming bastard that I am) and Crustle in a White 2 Nuzlocke.

Crustle is actually legit ingame, it's just ignored because of the other cooler Gen 5 Bug types and the fact that nearly everything else in the Desert Resort area is a stone cold killer.
