team's skull entire thing was just being the "chill" villains, which appealed to a shitload of people, along with the aether plot.

Yep, I have the same gripe with SM's plot. Lusamine was a 'villain' mostly because she was a shitty person, rather than an actual antagonist that poses a threat. SM's characters are good for the most part, but the plot and climax are pretty poor.

Basically brainwashed by Nihilego. Once they discovered UBs, Lusamine's motives basically switched from "Get husband back" to "Kill all Ultra Beasts" to "Preserve all Ultra Beasts" and finally to "Be with Nihilego forever".

Mostly comic relief, but I feel like in the wider context of the story they also provided Lusamine with the Pokemon in her collection and were specifically tasked with finding Nebby. It allows Aether to preserve its good PR as a conservation organization when its top admins are all basically proponents of kidnapping.

In reality, it's more likely she simply observed Nihilego at a distance, then meets it twice in the main story, then gets high on their neurotoxins when she does the fusion dance.
The fact Lillie literally only went to save her just to say she's a shitty person is just miles beyond why even bother, give her the genie punishment.

Even if you could argue that Lusamine's motives and actions were the result of the Nihilego toxin, consider the fact that it doesn't actually take control of the person but simply removes their inhibitions and encourages them to act on their deepest desires. Now consider the fact that if Lusamine was drugged out on the toxin throughout the course of the game, then the fact that she doesn't hesitate in disowning both Lillie and Gladion or trying to kill Lillie means that her supposed love for her family is a personality trait that is removed rather than enhanced, meaning that such a trait was suppressing her drive to work towards what she truly wanted rather than further motivating her to do so; not helped by the fact that her supposed desire to find her husband is hardly brought up aside from Gladion making mention of it, most likely as a coping mechanism. Needless to say, can we truly believe that she was worth going after?

I thought the effect of prolonged exposure to the neurotoxin was that you wanted to protect Nihilego forever. It makes since that she resented Lillie and Gladion then, because they tried to prevent her from doing so.

He stole power from God, basically killed Him, turned Mordor into a desolate wasteland, created the orcs and then unleashed them on the races of Man, leaving thousands of miles of land uninhabitable and killing countless people through war.
On top of that, the One Ring is a trap that encourages its bearer to return to Sauron, where they will meet an obviously painful demise. There's also the lesser rings imitating The One Ring, but thats not as much Sauron's doing and also arent as sinister. And then there's those wraiths, I forget the names of, that he regularly scouts the world with to hunt down wizards like Gandalf.

Where do you think he got those armies of monsters? Do you think he just found them? Theyre the product of his own creation, and so is Mordor.

Given Lillie's memories of her from before she got hopped up on Nihilego toxins, I'd say yes.
By the time you meet Lusamine in game, she was already behaving like she got touched by the jellyfish, and desperately wanting more.
